Asafa Powell predicts Jamaican clean sweep in 100m at London 2012
Former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell has predicted his Jamaican team-mates could make a clean sweep of the 100m medals at London 2012.
Powell was speaking after winning the rarely-contested 50m at the US Open indoor meeting at Madison Square Gardens.
'Surely it can be done - we have some amazing runners,' said Powell, who holds the record for clocking the highest number of sub-10 second 100 metres in history.
The 29-year-old former Commonwealth gold and world championship bronze medalist is still a force to be reckoned with, despite having finished out of the medals at the last two Olympics.
Fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt goes into the London games as reigning Olympic champion and world record holder, and compatriot Yohan Blake is the reigning world champion following Bolt's false-start elimination from last year's championship in Daegu.
Powell and his Jamaican team-mates will be based in Birmingham for the build-up to the Olympics and he will make his British indoor debut at the Birmingham Grand Prix on February 18.
