  • Junior sf Gabby Williams finished with a triple double (16 pts, 16 reb, 10 ast) in UConn 94th straight win over East Carolina.That was the 5th triple-double in Huskies history, last one by Kiah Stokes vs same school two years ago.

    Williams is a tremendous athlete who also starred in track & field at hs, competing in high jump and 100/300 m hurdles. At 15 she was the youngest competitor at the US Olympic Track & Field Trials in high jump.

    • Despite 44 pts of national leading scorer Kelsey Plum, Washington was edged by Stanford in the last quarter, losing 72-68. Whilst Plum moved to the third place in career scoring (just behind Brittney Griner and Jackie Stiles) Cardinals coach Tara VanDerveer reached her 999th win.

      Triple double of Alexis Jones in Baylor rout of Oklahoma 92-58. The senior guard finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, becoming only the second Lady Bear to achieve the record, besides Brittney Griner (who did it five times).

      • Reaching 1000 career wins, Tara VanDerveer is preceeded just by Mike Krzyzewski (1060) and the late Pat Summit (1089) in NCAA Div.I history.

        • Soph Bridget Carleton led unranked Iowa State to an upset road win over #22 West Virginia 80-55, scoring 31 pts. Carleton is a former star of various Canadian cadet/junior national teams.

          Junior guard Kelsey Mitchell finished with 32 points in Ohio State rout of Wisconsin 96-68. Mitchell, who leads the Buckeyes with 23.2 ppg, hit 11 of 13 shots, including 6 of 8 threes.

          • Leading UConn to an easy 96-49 win over Cincinnati with 24 points, Napheesa Collier was perfect in shooting (10/10 FG, including 1/1 three, and 3/3 FT). The all-purpose soph forward also finished with 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Huskies recorded their 98th straight win.

            • Soph Asia Durr scored her second straight 30+ points game as Louisville downed Virginia Tech 88-70. Durr made four 3-pointers, her 30th consecutive game with at least one three. She currently leads Cardinals in scoring with nearly 18 ppg.

              • Wade watch list of 35 best Div. I players:


                Four belong to #1 UConn, two are non-US, Kia Nurse from Canada and Leticia Romero from Spain and have arleady played with their respective Sr NT.

                • UConn extended its win streak to 100, beating South Carolina 66-55. Huskies were led by a super Gabby Williams (career high 26 points, 14 rebounds 4 assists and 4 steals).
                  Kia Nurse and Williams have played in every game of the streak.

                  • Kelsey Plum moved to the 2nd place of NCAA all-time scoring list leading Washington over USC with 35 points. She is now 78 points shy of Jackie Stiles record of 3393 pts.

                    • Big game of big Kalani Brown who led Baylor to a narrow win over Texas 70-67. The sophomore center scored 35 points on 10/12 FG shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds. Baylor played most of the game without its leading scorer senior Alexis Jones, who left early with a knee injury.

                      • Many expected Kelsey Plum to set new all-time scoring record by the end of season, but nobody thought so early. Washington's senior guard exploded for 57 points in yesterday win over Utah and with her 54th point she surpassed Jackie Stiles previous record.

                        • Career-high for soph Napheesa Collier, who scored 39 pts (15/19 FG shooting) and grabbed 12 rebounds in UConn rout of South Florida, 96-68. UConn finshed the regular season and extended its win streak to 104.

                          • Interestingly, seniors Kelsey Plum and Chantel Osahor, both from Washington U, are solid leaders in Div I scoring and rebounding.

                            • Naismith PoY 10 semifinalists announced:
                              On March 2, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced the Naismith semifinalists in consideration for the 2017 Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year.


                              Three UConn players icluded: Collier, Samuelson and Williams. Bit surprising the inclusion of Vivians and Wiese in the list.

                              • Katie Lou Samuelson scored 40 points and UConn easily won the ACC title smashing South Florida 100-44. Husky super soph hit an amzing 10 for 10 from beyond the arc, a Div.I record, and was also perfect from the FT line (6/6) but was just 2/4 on 2-pt FG.

                                Unranked West Virginia scored a major upset shocking Baylor 77-66 for the Big 12 title game, behind 32 points of Tynice Martin. The soph guard set a new record for conference championship final, previously held by Brittney Griner with 31.
