  • South Carolina and Notre Dame reach F-4, a first time achievement for Gamecocks and the fifth straight for Lady Irish.

Besides leading scorer Tiffany Mitchell, soph center Alaina Coates was perfect in FG shooting with 6/6 for SC.

Soph guard Lindsay Allen scored a career-high 23 pts for Notre Dame, while teammate Michaela Mabrey went 4/4 on FG3-shooting.

    • Sr Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis broke the NCAA record in three pointers with 393. She was yesterday 7/10 beyond the arc, and UConn reached its 8th straight F4. Huskies' starting five scored 89 of 91 total points in a game that was kept even by Dayton in the first half.

Maryland is the other semi-finalist after beating Tennessee and could represent a surprise at the F4.

        • Swedish soph sensation Amanda Zahui B. could enter the WNBA draft, as international players are draft-eligible at 19.

Also junior All-American guard Jewell Loyd would be draft-eligible, as she's reached 22.

          • Double honor for junior Breanna Stewart, winner of Wade Trophy as WBCA PoY and voted PoY for the second straight season by AP.

            • Geno Auriemma tied John Wooden's 10 NCAA titles record as UConn beat Notre Dame, 63-53.

Huskies basically won with their starting five, which scored 59 pts.

It was also the third Final Four MVP honor for junior Breanna Stewart, a women's game record, tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (aka Lew Alcindor) who made it for John Wooden in the late 1960s.

Earlier in the weekend, UCLA won the WNIT edging West Virginia 62-60, behind 31 pts scored by freshman Jordin Canada, her season's high.

              • Notre Dame junior guard Jewell Loyd declared herself eligible for the WNBA draft.

This is somewhat surprising as both media and school had previously confirmed Loyd's return to ND for her senior year.

Loyd, who is 22, would join in the Draft Amanda Zahui B, another undergraduate. Both could be picked at the first two places.

                • Another award won by junior Breanna Stewart, named John Wooden 2015 PoY.

Jewell Loyd finished a close second in the race, followed by Tiffany Mitchell, Nina Davis and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis.

                    • Interesting read on Florida State's F/C Adut Bulgak.

From Sudan to Edmonton to Florida State - basketball player Adut Bulgak's path to sport success has not followed the usual path.

Bulgak was already member of Canada Development NT who won the 2014 William Jones Cup.

                      • Juco 2015 PoY Evelyn Akhator from Lagos, Nigeria, chose to play with Kentucky.

Akhator is a 6-3 (1.90 m) F/C soph who connected nearly 58% FG last season and will build up an impressive frontcourt together with Alexis Jennings, Alyssa Rice, incoming freshman Batouly Camara and 6-6 RS Juco Ivana Jukubcova from Slovakia.

Davis already changed high school (she left Norcross, where she was teaming up with Diamond DeShields, for Buford).

                              • More transfers.

Virginia post player Sarah Imovbioh will move from Virginia to South Carolina for her final year (sitting out next season). Interestingly, Imovbioh played for the short-lived U19 Nigerian NT that was expected to compete at the 2011 WC but couldn't make the travel and withdrew from the tournament. A teammate of Imovbioh in that same unlucky team, Elem Ibiam, has just completed her collegiate career with Gamecocks...

Temi Fagbenle, another post player who also roots from Nigeria but plays for Great Britain's Sr NT, will transfer to South California as a graduate student (from Harvard) and should be immediately eligible yo play.

Other notable transfers with destination unknown (so far), soph Jessica Washington leaving UNC, Jannah Tucker to transfer from Tennessee and All-Am guard Lexie Brown asking for release from Maryland.
