  • In Div.I stats as at 12/31/2014, there's a remarkable performance from Jr Fw Jillian Alleyne (Oregon) who is #1 in double-doubles with 11 on 11 games played. Alleyne is also #1 in RPG (14.6).

    • Sr guard Brittany Hrynko of DePaul scored a career-high 38 pts in yesterday's win over Georgetown, 105-85. Hnrynko almost had a double-double as she also finished with 9 asts (and 4 stls).

      • Kaleena Mosqueda-Kewis tied Diana Taurasi's record at UConn with 318 3-pointers, in yesterday's blow-out of Tulsa 98-60.
        UConn shot over 64% on FG (better than FT%) and was led by Moriah Jefferson's 22 pts and Morgan Tuck 21. Jefferson scored 4 threes on 4 attempts and Tuck finished with 10/12 FG-shooting. Both are at top national level this season. Center Kiah Stokes was held scoreless but contributed with 7 blocks.

        • Soph guard Adrienne Motley scored a career-high 32 pts for Miami on 13/19 FG shooting, in yesterday's Notre Dame upset 78-63.

          Freshman guard Kelsey Mitchell almost scored a triple double in Ohio State rout of Indiana (103-49), as she finished with 25 pts (hitting 5 on 5 three-pointers), 9 reb and 8 asts (+ 3 stls). Her junior teammate Ameryst Alston, also a guard, topped all scorers with 27 on 11/16 FG shooting and dished out 6 asts.

          • Kentucky's jr guard Janee Thompson suffered a bad injury with a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula in the game lost to South Carolina 68-60.
            She was averaging 10ppg.

            Florida State beat #13 Duke 74-58 with another big game from Adut Bulgak, 18 pts + 18 reb. FSU, still unranked in the Top25, is one of the most underrated teams.

              • Other outstanding performances from two top-freshmen yesterday.

                Notre Dame's fw Brianna Turner had 29 pts (on 10/13 FG), 18 reb and 7 blocks in Irish win over North Carolina 89-79. Notre Dame is currently ranked #7.

                Ohio State's g Kelsey Mitchell scored 36 pts, hitting a school record 9 threes (on 20 attempts), but her effort wasn't enough and her team lost to Minnesota 76-72. Mitchell is the current Div I scoring leader.

                • Oregon State extended its best start in Pac-12 to 5-0 (15-1 overall) narrowly winning over Wash State 73-70, after rallying back in the second half from a 16-pt deficit.
                  In the process, jr Canadian big center Ruth Hamblin set her new scoring record to 31 pts on 12/16 shooting and added 16 reb + 7 blocks.

                  It's a head-to-head battle between two "Kelsey" players for Div I scoring award. Both freshman Kelsey Mitchell (Ohio State) and soph Kelsey Plum (Washington) are averaging around 25ppg. In yesterday's rout of Oregon, Plum scored 35 pts (among them 4-threes) with a remarkable 12/19 FG shooting. She completed her outstanding performance with 7/7 from the line and 5 assists (vs 0 to).

                  • #3 Baylor continued its surprising winning streak (16th straight) after disposing of Texas 75-58. Lady Bears were again led by super soph fw Nina Davis, who is averaging nearly 22 ppg. Sr fw Nneka Enemkpali of Texas injured her left knee early in the game and was forced off the court.

                    Jr guard Jewell Loyd led Notre Dame over Tennessee 88-77, scoring 34 pts, her third 30+ pts performance this season. Irish should enter now the Top-5 ranks. Loyd currently leads ND in scoring (21-5ppg) and steals.

                    • Sr forward Nneka Enemkpali suffered a torn ACL on her left knee and is lost for the season.
                      She ends her career at Texas as the season's leading scorer, averaging 12.4ppg and 10.rpg in 17 games.

                        • Duke beat North Carolina in OT in a rivalry-classic. Sr center Elizabeth Williams scored a career-high 33 pts for Duke and grabbed 10 reb.

                          Another career-high (36 pts) was scored by Swedish super-soph center Amanda Zahui for Minnesota in a losing effort vs Rutgers. Zahui also collected 15 reb. Soph guard Tyler Scaife topped Rutgers with 28 pts, her season's high.

                          • UConn's sr center Kiah Stokes scored a triple-double (10 pts, 11 reb and school-record 10 blks) in an easy win over East Carolina 87-32.

                            But she wasn't alone in her yesterday's performance, as Minnesota Amanda Zahui finished with 16 pts, 13 reb and 12 blks in Gophers' win over Penn State 75-64. It was the second triple-double of Swedish center's NCAA career.

                              • Oregon State is another team having an outstanding season, with an overall record of 19-1 (only loss vs Tennessee) and 9-0 within Pac-12, their best start ever so far.
                                #7 Beavers are led by two young Canadian players, guard Jamie Weisner (she top scored her team at the 2013 U19 WC) and center Ruth Hamblin. Oregon St beat yesterday South California with a strong defensive effort, 68-35. Weisner contributed with 21 pts and Hamblin recorded 9 reb and 8 blocks.

                                Monster game from F/C Jillian Alleyne in another Pac-12 classic. She led Oregon vs UCLA 67-65, with 30 pts and 25 reb.
