Kenny George, like Tyler Hansbrough, is a junior at his Carolina college. Let's look at his stats:
His points per game is rather mediocre with 12.8 per contest. If we look down the chart a little bit, however, we will come to the rebounds per game and blocks per game section. He averages an amazing 9.3 rebounds per game. Let's compare that with Roy Hibbert's 6 rpg. That's pretty impressive if I don't say so myself. Tyler Hansbrough has 9.9 rebounds per game. Even though Hansbrough may have 0.6 RPG more than George, it's still pretty impressive that he's up towards the top of that category with a bunch of future All-Americans. He makes up for it, however, in the blocks column. Once again, George averages an outstanding amount of blocks with 5.4 per game. How much does the great Hansbrough average you say? 0.3 bpg. What about big man Hibbert? 2.3 bpg. George has the blocks column covered with his 5.4 bpg having him ranked first in the nation with that statistic and one behind Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado in total blocks with 65.
Now sure, UNC and Georgetown are better teams that are ranked in the Top-25. I, myself, would rather be on one of their teams than UNC- Asheville's team. UNC and Georgetown play better and are coached better, but don't leave UNC- Asheville out so quickly. At the moment, they are 11-3. They still have a great chance at making the NCAA tournament this year. If they don't get in this year, which would be very unlikely, they will, without a doubt, get in next year. Kenny George will only continue to get bigger, stronger, smarter, and better at this game. He may become an All-American next year and will definitely be a top pick in the NBA draft. Not only is he taller than Mr. Yao in Houston, but he is also bigger and stronger. He is a defensive powerhouse alone. The only thing he has to be cautious of is his fouls.
