Two great games last night! Unfortunately, I kept falling asleep during the Uconn/Kentucky game.
It looked to me like VCU lost their energy with about 10 minutes left. Butler changed their defense just a little bit after the first few minutes. Great game, though.
How good is Shelvin Mack? Man, I hope he makes it in the NBA. I realize he's an under-sized senior, but he's a heckuva lot better than some of those NBA prospects playing off the bench now.
"I really like the attitudes of eagles. They never give up. When they grab a fish or something else, they never let it go. It doesn't matter. In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas
One of the most unimpressive championship games I've ever seen on any level of basketball. I think the women's final will be more entertaining than this one.
Anyway, hope Butler redeems themselves this year. What a great story.
Probably the weakest draft in league history. If Sullinger comes out, he'll probably go number one, but the best I can say about him is that he has plenty of upside. He's by no means a complete product, especially with his mid-range game. If this draft were as talent deep as the one's from the 80s and 90s, this current crop of All-Americans would be lucky to go late in the 2nd round.
If Kemba Walker were 6'6" instead of 6'0", I would almost put him up there with Kobe Byrant as an impact player on both ends of the court. He really is supremely talented, but unless he moves to full-time PG, I just don't see him being as effective playing the two guard in the NBA because of his size. A.J. Abrams, who played with Kevin Durrant during his Texas days, is a prime example of how lack of size hurts you in the big leagues. Abrams is as talented a scorer as Walker is at both the point and off-guard position, but his NBA career has been limited because of his size (5'11"). The prototypical two guard in the NBA is between 6'3" and 6'6" with some exceptions, of course. The standard is less strict overseas, which is why dominutive American guards like El-Amin, Bullock, and Edney (who can all play the point and two) have found success, particularly in Europe's "team first" approach to basketball.
i watched the game live. butler shot appallingly. could not hit anything. uconn deserving winner. very ordinary game in terms of quality
Definitely an ugly game. It wasn't pretty at all.

Well, that game was pretty disappointing. It was like thinking you're going to the Louvre, but you go to a bad high school art room...
Looking at the boxscore, the shooting was actually better than I thought it was: 18% for Butler and 34% for UConn. Shelvin Mack, Matt Howard, Kemba Walker, and Jeremy Lamb were all pretty disappointing in terms of performance.
Yeah, the defense was pretty good all night, but everybody missed a lot of good looks.

Definitely a conversation for another thread, but I've always wondered why NBA coaches are so afraid to have somebody who is slightly smaller than the other guy guarding him...it's almost like an unwritten rule that only somebody who is 6'10" can guard another player who is 6'10".

The draft stocks of Kemba Walker is at an all time high and it seems likely that Walker will declare for the draft. I am most interested to see on how he will fair in the NBA.
