  • Advanced Box Scores!!!

i learned this from another forum. i'd like to share it because there could be people here who are interested in not just the normal statistics but advanced stats of sorts (including charges taken, where assists lead to where...)

i find it very interesting and informative--- well if you are a stat whore anyway

    Here's the link: http://hoopdata.com/boxscores.aspx

      Never far.

Good work. Not possible for Euroleague though at the moment, it all depends on the accuracy of the play by play data. Euroleague doesn't even have seconds (only minutes), and it only seperates fielg goals into dunk/layup, two-pointer, three pointer. If I remember correctly, NBA play by play is pretty accurate, like "19 feet jumpshot from the right wing".

This is correct. i always use yahoo's play by play because of the fast-load on the refresh. ESPN's is very specific as well. But from the link given, these kinds of shots are archived as stats too: something like shots within the paint, midrange and three's-- exactly what we need when judging a player's tendencies.

i have yet to browse the single player's data but i assume they keep tabs on each individual as well (and hopefully, sortable)--- the box scores are simply heaven-sent already i know a player (and tendencies) thrice by looking at them and not the game (Good luck following 30 teams x 82 games over a year)
