NBA's TNT Player of the Decade: Kobe Bryant

Last night, Kobe Bryant was revealed as the choice of fans for NBA's TNT Player of the Decade poll.

Kobe is currently the best player ahead of my main man LeBron and will be for a couple more years. He has achieved so much in this decade 81 points, Regular Season MVP and a Finals MVP.

However, this decade in my opinion belonged to Shaq or Tim Duncan. The two were by far the most dominating force for the whole decade.

Shaq is definitely the better choice than Kobe for Player of the Decade. "The Diesel" was the major reason the Lakers won 3 straight championships and made the finals again in 2004. In addition, he was the major reason why the Heat became a title contender and he was one of the major reasons for the 2006 Championships. Sure enough after the 2006 season the big guy has declined but what he achieved from 2000 to 2006 are greater achievements than what Kobe achieved from making the Lakers "his team" from 2005 to the present day.

      Shaq
      4 Championships
      3 Finals MVP
      1 Regular Season MVP
      7x All NBA First Team

      Duncan
      3 Championships
      2 Finals MVP
      2 Regular Season MVP
      7x All NBA First Team

      Kobe
      4 Championships
      1 Finals MVP
      1 Regular Season MVP
      7x All NBA First Team

From the major achievements of each player, you can easily see that Shaq and Duncan have achieved much more than Kobe in this decade. The difference between Shaq and Duncan is that Duncan has been by far the more consistent player and has been still a dominating factor to this day.

Had I had my way, Good ol Tim would be the NBA's Player of the Decade and even one for the ages as Timmy never missed the playoff nor he lost in the NBA finals. A definite answer to consistency.

I agree with that. With Kobe, in the first half of the decade he was Shaq's sidekick and once it was "his" Lakers the first season (2005) was horrendous, the next two post seasons they got defeated by Phoenix ... that's right the team that never played defense even in the playoffs (but my gosh, were they an AWESOME AND ENTERTAINING TEAM) ... and Kobe's Lakers lost in the finals the following year (2008) and ONLY reached the finals because someone up in higher management thought that it was a good idea to get the awesome Spaniard. Anyone who is an objective NBA fan could easily see that Kobe can't be considered "NBA Player of the Decade". It's just the Kobe fans andthe young under 12 fans who only started watching basketball two years ago who would be dumb enough to vote for Kobe.
