  • Who’s the GOAT?

I've put together a little poll to see who out of the following 6 players is considered the greatest of all time:

Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Magic or Bird

Should help shed some light on how people feel about the biggest basketball debate of the last few decades!

To cast your vote go to:

So far results indicate that Jordan is still the most popular player.

And surprisingly that out of the 6 players, 0% of voters would trust LeBron James with the last shot with the game on the line!

Anyway, should be able to read more into it once the number of votes grow!

      I'd say Michael Jordan too.

But I would like to argue that the likes of Bill Russel and Wilt Chamberlain, even Shaquille O'Neal are way greater than Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade... Bryant and Wade's championship rings are not even half of what Russell have...

But I like the poll... well done.

          Cheers man

I was thinking about including Shaq, Wilt, Russel, etc, but I mainly did this with the constant convos that fans have in mind (Is Lebron better than Kobe, could Kobe beat Jordan, etc...). Plus they are all perimeter players. So I'll probably do a greatest big man of all time soon!

Must say, I'm surprised at how popular Jordan still is! I mean I agree with the results, I think he would dominate today's game, but I'm surprised that so many people seem to think the same. There are so many threads out their saying the opposite! Guess the people who make the LeBron/Kobe is better comments are just the loud mouthed minority;-)!

Here are the latest overal standings - % of points received by each player:

          Michael Jordan 63.8%
          LeBron James 9.6%
          Dwyane Wade 4%
          Kobe Bryant 5.9%
          Magic Johnson 10.4%
          Larry Bird 6.4%

The GOAT? First of all, Kobe doesn't deserve to be on that type of list. He's top 20, for sure, but hasn't accomplished enough on his own to be considered as the best ever. Wade is the same.

The big name missing is Kareem. In fact, you could argue that Jordan and Jabbar are the only two who have a solid claim in being the GOAT.

Magic and Bird are top 10, or top 5, depending on who's making the list, but neither have a shot at the top spot.

Only two others could be mentioned: Bill Rusell and Wilt Chamberlain. The former won like crazy, but didn't have the skills of MJ or Kareem. The latter certainly had the skills, but didn't win consistently enough.

My pick: Jordan. His impact on the game will never be equaled, in my view.

I agree... I mean who could forget Michael Jordan... I guess some people would talk a lot of Lebron or Kobe since they did not grow up watching Michael Jordan and the Bulls heydays or they did not saw it at all... In other words, kiddies!

Even in other sports, people always associate the name of the great players with their sports all the time... Here's my GOATs of Selected Sports (some people might argue about this list.. but this is how I associate sports with certain personalities):

              basketball - Michael Jordan
              soccer - Pele
              boxing - Muhammad Ali
              golf - Tiger Woods
              tennis - Pete Sampras
              rugby union - Jonah Lomu
              billiard/pool - Efren Reyes
              racing - Michael Schumacher
              swimming - Michael Phelps
              baseball - Babe Ruth

Anyways, I'll be looking forward for the greatest big man of all time poll...

                    hahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Anyway, back to basketball, Whoever said that Kobe hasn't done anything by himself, must'va been living under a rock for the last 2 years. Who'd you think got the Lakers in the Finals, Last year? Paul (or Pau or whatever) Gasol?? c'mon dude, let's be objetive here, just cuz you and the rest of the world thinks he is a (-beep-), doesn't mean, we can take back all he's done for the Lakers (for the game I should'va said)

Besides who says that Basketball is a One man game? I thought u needed 5 guys to play a game !!!!, I guess now Lakers only plays Kobe Aganist the full roster of th other teams of the league so they can save some money from their payroll.

I wonder why other teams don't do the same thing? I mean, I'm sure Playing Wade with other 4 guys and Playing him alone would be the same. Why do you need a guy like Michael Beasley for anyway? just cut 'im off, and let Wade do it all, just like Kobe is supposed to in L.A

Dude, if you would include Lebron on the list, why not Kobe? Hasn't accomplished enough of his own? Well, he is a member of the redeem team that won the Gold medal in the recently concluded Olympics in China and he has 3 NBA championship rings, of course with the help of Shaq but still he was a main contributor on those 3 titles. Do you think winning a regular NBA season MVP, being included in the NBA first team selection several times, and being a member of all nba defensive team can be considered as individual accomplishment? If your answer is no, then I really couldn't comprehend what is your definition of " enough individual accomplishment". I do agree with you though that Jordan is indeed the greatest player of all time..

naming Kobe, Lebron and specially Wade would be a sin in my religion.
