    Fun topic here.

Saski, the one name that you really should've added is Bill Russell. Granted, he played before our viewing time, but his is a name that is constantly added to the conversation when talking about the greatest defenders. I think I would put him on mine:

    C - Bill Russell
    PF - Charles Oakley
SF - Andrei Kirilenko / Shawn Marion
    SG - Bruce Bowen
    PG - Joe Dumars

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas

          C - Bill Laimbeer
          PF - charles Barkley
          SF - Dennis Rodman
          SG - Bruce Bowen
          PG - Joe Dumars

As you can see Matt I hail the bad boys and dirty players more, as well as the really rough and tough style guys

You're definitely right and by far he would be a far better choice in any defensive team than Big Ben but I can never leave out my homeboy from my defensive team

Guys who would you choose between the three: Charles Oakley, Rodman or Big Ben?

Honestly, I would love to choose Rodman if I had a team but with his wild character and his uncontrollable manners I would choose Big Ben instead (even though I'm a HUUUUUGE Knicks fan of the 90s) since you can play him in both the 4 and 5 spot (though as he's proven in Cleveland he's not as good at the 4 as he is at the 5)

Jay, there is nothing wrong with the Bad Boys. They would certainly make a better defensive squad than these individual All-Stars because they could communicate and had great experiences.

Mutombo and Payton are two great choices. I might need to change mine line-up:

              C - Bill Russell
              PF - Charles Oakley
              SF - Andrei Kirilenko
              SG - Bruce Bowen
              PG - Gary Payton

As for Rodman/Oakley/Wallace...I really don't know. Rodman and Wallace could certainly get the rebounds like something else. Oakley was a tough, hard-nosed competitor and someone who I think was a genuinely good guy. I'm not a Knicks fan, but I'd take Oakley.

                Bill Laimbeer
                Dennis Rodman
                Rick Mahorn
                Joe Dumars
                Isiah Thomas

Other guys were good defenders, but these guys revolutionized defense by figuring out that if they just fouled on every possession, the refs would change their definition of a foul.
