  • to NBA fans, Lakers now a contender?

maybe you know or read it from other news that Pau Gasol has been traded to LA Lakers, what do you think? How does this affect us watching the NBA. Who got the good deal?

Surely, western conference top teams will have to watch Lakers now as the team will be an instant title contender.

I cant help to watch and anticipate the playoffs

Wooohoo!! Now the lakers will surely be a force to reckon with.. Especially if Andrew Bynum comes back, both of them will man the Paint.. Bynum will play at center (mihm backing him up), Then Gasol will play the PF/C.. hehehe Wat a cool combination!!! Twin Towers!!! Maybe this is the laker ressurection!!! I'm still dreaming of the Celtics-Lakers Showdown in the Finals!!! Renew their rivalry after 20 years!!! Horayt!!!

Getting Pau Gasol really was a bit of a coup for the Lakers. And they got him without losing Odom, or Bynum. Now that team will certainly be very competitive ..... on paper. We'll see how Pau blends w/ the team, & whether he can have a good working relationship w/ Kobe.

exactly! although i'm a lebron/cavs fan(we need jason kidd badly, danny ferry), a lakers-celtics deja vu in june might actually be good for the nba..celtics big three against the lakers version of it in kobe, gasol and odom..still, go Cavs!

You mentioned only 4 real inside players in thos 6... Odom will play 3, as will Radmanovic. The only guys you can't put outside are Bynum, Gasol, Mbenga and Mihm, but, Mihm and Mbenga will sit and give a little rest for the two others, when the 4post won't be taken by Odom to have a faster team.
With Gasol, they got a center that can run after STAT...

Lakers were already contenders before Bynum got hurt. Then you add a former All-star in Pau Gasol, whose game compliments the triangle, it makes the Lakers one of the favorites.

                      Center-Andrew Bynum
                      Power Forward-Pau Gasol
                      Small Forward-Lamar Odom

Definitely the tallest frontline in the NBA today.

They're good, that's for sure. I'm still not sure about their bench, which I know a lot of people really like, but I think that's their biggest problem. Of course, when you've got Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant, there isn't much need to worry about a bench.

during the 10 wins streak, Farmar and Vujacic brought lots of points from the benche with quite good shooting. i think they need at least one of those guys to come out good to ensure the win.
Now, with what Kobe is showing... 52 points, but only 27 shots taken out of 87 for the team, which let few ones for the others still. And most of it when the game was on the line. So, Lakers are sharing the ball well, they should roll to the playoffs, and then in the West, it seems quite unpredictable.

It looks like the Lakers pulled off the biggest trick of the season with the Gasol trade. I wouldn't call them a contender before the trade, but I do now. They r scoring more after the trade, they had a big winning streak which is necessary 4 a top team, they have a superstar, perhaps the best player in the league right now, they come from a traditional city in bball which is also a big market and Stern would b ecstatic in the prospect of a Celtics-Lakers matchup in the finals.
