  • Biggest Disappointment

What do you think was the worst pick in modern NBA Draft history?
I think all these players are overrated and teams could choose better ones, but I think that the biggest mistake was made in 1998:

    1. LA Clippers Michael Olowokandi Pacific
    2. Vancouver Mike Bibby Arizona
    3. Denver Raef LaFrentz Kansas
    4. Toronto Antawn Jamison North Carolina
    5. Golden State Vince Carter North Carolina
    6. Dallas Robert Traylor Michigan
    7. Sacramento Jason Williams Florida
    8. Philadelphia Larry Hughes Saint Louis
    9. Milwaukee Dirk Nowitzki DJK Wurzburg (Germany)
    10. Boston Paul Pierce Kansas
    46
    Andrew Bogut
    0%
    4
    Andrea Bargnani
    0%
    2
    Kwame Brown
    0%
    11
    Michael Olowokandi

Olowokandi is clearly the worst pick ever.

I agree. In fact, I think most of the other number one NBA draft picks are pretty good. And truthfully, maybe at the time, picking the "Candy Man" was a good decision, because he did have a tremendous amount of potential.

I think Bogut, Bargani, and Brown were all fair picks. Bogut and Bargani are still young and have had good seasons so far. Brown was picked on potential, like Olowokandi, and just hasn't "panned out."

Kandi man, easily. Kwame is a very good defensive player despite being so inept on the offensive end. Bogut is already a good player and will only get better. Bargs is still all about potential right now. His ceiling is Dirk with better athleticism.

It should put Yao Ming on the list. Obvious of their talents, moves and helping their team. Too close for Olowokandi, Bargani and Bogut.

Those of 4 are tied the worst disappointment no.1 pick NBA draft ever.

            Yao Ming
            Michael Olowokandi
            Andrea Bargani
            Andrew Bogut

What!? Joel, Yao is scoring 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, 2+ blocks, and shooting 50%+ on the year. That's awesome, man!

Yeah, that guy who averages 20/10/2/2 and was an MVP candidate last season is a bust.

                    Yeah right
                    Olowokandi by far of course.

Just going slightly off the topic ... is anyone out there, like myself who thought that the former All American PF/C from the University of Kansas would be a superstar?

And here is my favourite ... Tractor trailer for the mysterious kid from Germany

Guess where Tractor Traylor is? ... Puerto Rico. Though I would rather be in the NBA and make heaps of $$$, I wouldn't mind playing in Puerto Rico in front of all those good looking Puerto Rican ladies while listening to the latest Reggaeton beats

However, looking from the perspective of the Bucks organisation. The advantages of obtaining the former University of Michigan star was a safer bet because you have seen the big man develop slowly throughout his years in Michigan and on top of that you know that this Big Man has been used to playing in a stlye of play that is easier for him to adjust to the NBA than from a unknown kid who has been playing overseas and may find the adjustment to the NBA quite difficult. Do you go for the kid full of potential or do you go for the safe choice? Of course it is easier to comment now but then many manager would rather take the safer pick than the gamble.

Olowokandi is far worst, but in my opinion Bogut and Brown aren't far behind him.

That is true especially with Bargnani. You can see that he will eventually become a "Dirk Nowitzki" type player alongside the inside game of Chris Bosh.

Concerning Bogut, though I am an Australian-Filipino and I love watching this guy play, I am expecting bigger numbers and bigger wins this seasons for the Bucks. Hence, if that does not occur I am having my doubts about my fellow countryman. Basically, I want to see definitely 15ppg 10rpg & 2bpg and the Bucks racking up at least a 45 win season.

Whether or not Bogut becomes a bust you have to agree with the Bucks management that Bogut by far was the choice they HAD to make. In that draft class you look at the other 4 top picks alongside the "Bogey Man" (a Power Forward/ Small Forward and 3 point guards) and you can see that the Bucks did not need a forward or a point guard. They already had TJ Ford at the point. Now which starting five makes more sense, Joe Smith, Marvin Williams, Desmond Mason, Michael Redd, TJ Ford OR Andrew Bogut, Joe Smith, Desmond Mason, Michael Redd, TJ Ford. If you need a centre you get a centre you don't get a small forward who played the power forward position in college

Funny how one can say Yao is a bust..Maybe they said so, becuase they expected Yao to be something different from what he is now..But Yao has good naumbers statistically
