I agree 100% that the Championship is much more important. But it's fun to talk about MVPs and Rookie of the Years and who is a better player. It's just stuff to talk about.

That said, I think Nash was a legitimate MVP (although three or four other players were too). He's such a wonderful player and is a blast to watch, especially with Marion, Hill, and Barbosa on the team. They're all so much fun to watch.

Anybody in forumer said he's not deserve to win MVP's. I know the Cavaliers upset the older players from Pistons in series then they're underdogs in finals against the Spurs. The Cavs didn't played Larry Hughes because of his injury and Lebron's only can score against 5 players were Horry, Finley, Duncan, Ginobili and Parker. Lebron's haven't helped by his teammates and then lost by swept.

Hey!!! Having dunking skill player can't win basketball games. Even John Stockton could have won the Championship if Jordan didn't comeback anymore when he first retirement. Basketball is 5-man team not only one player can win! So that's why Steve won because of his team performance with lucky statistics.

    Whatever Joel! Whatever

the title of the thread got my curiosity and here I am.

on my own POV, I think Nash is a model of a team player, and that should be a lesson to those ballhogs of the NBA like Kobe that being the scoring champion doesn't secure an MVP trophy.

I wonder why Jason Kidd wasn't able to make like Steve Nash, I think he is better than Nash before but Steve's unorthodox moves, determination and leadership is a testament of a real MVP. Another bet for the MVP is Mr. Fundamental Tim Duncan, he is selfless and almost 100% effective.

You don't need to dunk everytime or ballhog all day long just to get the MVP award, simply playing with the team and getting everybody better is the key.

NBA is moving towards team-oriented basketball especially with foreign players in most of the NBA teams... individual talent-centered basketball are history...

Remember last years (2006-2007) NBA finals... San Antonio Spurs (Tim Duncan, Manu Ginoboli, Tony Parker) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (Lebron James)... team-oriented Spurs beat the individual talent-centered Cavaliers... period....

He is perfect only in run`n`gun system. Rather look at Duncan, Kobe,...etc etc...

Those awards are sometimes overrated... especially awards in regular season.

And Rasheed Wallace said something as "LOL" on giving MVP award to Nash or Dirk, cuz they are effective on only one side of the court...

Haha, Joel23, this is what you have wrote:
Kobe Bryant without Shaquille O'neal in his team and his teammates were weak.

LOL, Kobe almost alone came to 1. round of playoff.
Nash? 2. round of playoff, only second round with Amare, Marion, Diaw, Barbosa...
And they lost 4-2. Playoff is real basketball, not a regular season my bro....
Yeah correct! Steve doesn't deserve to be MVP because he's not all-around player but only have passing and shooting.
I'm going to estimate Steve Nash's talent as same level skills of Scott Skiles.
Also Scott Skiles had already no.1 assist record in a game with 30 assist! Wow! No other player to reaching 30 assist.
btw, Steve Nash's talent skills not like MVP but like 6th man unit.

Yeah anyway Kobe Bryants is self-fish player, he wants to create his own dynasty. So he would only one man team.

title is the only thing that matters, MVP or scoring 20ppg in the finals should be something that comes along... at least I hope that would be the case with the players if it can't be with the fans... or else it's all about the "image"?!

Please tell me you are kidding and you know at least something about basketball.

This guy left a title contender as a 3rd option and went to a good team, completely lifted them up (and also lifted up his stats every single season since then), became one of the few PGs in history to have these averages in points and assists, became the team's franchise player (something proven in the playoffs more than in the regular season), turned his teammates into superstars (even Boris Diaw won a MIP award with Nash next to him) and his second MVP arrived when Amare was out for season and Nash still averaging above 11 apg. Not to mention that (as big of a Mavs and Dirk fan as I am, I still have to admit it) he should be the MVP again last season.

But, yeah, since he is not black, young or athletic, he doesnt deserve to be the MVP, right?

started a topic What are many reasons why Steve Nash have 2 MVPS

What are many reasons why Steve Nash have 2 MVPS

1.)Supporting by his teammates Amare Stoudamire and Shawn Marion were going run and gun play so he have more assist.

2.)Kobe Bryant without Shaquille O'neal in his team and his teammates were weak.

3.)Jason Kidd was injured and he's older

4.)Lebron, Carmelo, Dwayne, Dwight, Chris(Paul) and Deron were young(unripe)

    5.)Shaquille O'neal was injured

6.)Tim Duncan was limited in minutes and his teammates shared him their statistics

7.)Tracy Mcgrady and Paul Pierce played his weak team

8.)Dirk Nowitzki's shared statistics with his teammates were Jason Terry

9.)Vince Carter, Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis played already so-so and limited minutes.

Very lucky Steve Nash, he had already 2 MVPS but his talent against weak rotation opponents defense and He's eaten by his opposition that was a joke.
