  • 90's era of the NBA

I have read on yahoo answers sports section that fans believe that the 90's era, where Michael Jordan and the Bulls dominated, is a weak era compared to today or the 80's. Do you believe in this? just state your opinions.

As for mine, I believe it is NOT a weak era. There are the guys like Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, Reggie Miller and other great players played in that era and it was their prime. competition is not lower that time just because you have seen Michael Jordan dominate the era. Maybe he is really just too good?

The mid and late 90's was a very weak period IMO. There were still some great players and teams, but the overall talent level of the league was much lower than in the 80's or in the 00's, and most teams shifted to an ugly style of play.

There were three drafts in a row, from 1988 through 1990, that were very thin. Those players would have formed the core of the league in he mid to late 90's.

Its weak because only one player dominate that era.... the rest never tried to challenge... while newcomers tried but ended up as wannabes....

in my opinion 90's are way better than today because of the physical defense today few touch and you are already foul.

Who knows? There were different styles and different teams. The '90s were unfortunately an era of slow, plodding teams like New York, Miami, Indiana, Seattle and even the real winners of the era like Chicago and Utah had very slow, meticulous offenses. None of the NBA teams played like the '92 Dream Team.

Personally, I think the free-flowing teams like Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Boston, and Portland were much more fun to watch.

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas
