  • Who are yor 2007-08 NBA all-Stars?

The ballots are official now and can be seen here:

    My Votes:

    East:

    G: Vince Carter
    G: Andrei Iguodala
    F: LeBron James
    F: Drew Gooden
    C: Zydrunas Ilgauskas

    West:

    G:Brandon Roy
    G: Antoine Walker
    F: Grant Hill
    F: Kevin Durant
    C: Lamarcus Aldridge

    Write In: Mike James

    Some recent changes.

#1. Tim Duncan is now listed as a Center unlike last year where he was listed as a Forward, so he will most likely be coming off the bench behind Yao Ming because let's face it even Shaq struggle against Yao at the peak of his popularity during the 2003 NBA ALL STAR Game.

#2. Yi Jialian isn't on the NBA All star ballot at all, which means that he will not be voted this year in the NBA ALL STAR Game despite averaging better numbers than Charlie Villanueva.

  • #2
Im voting for SUN YUE in the write-in.

Maybe he'll start without playing 1 game in the NBA.

I have always thought that Duncan is a center. The Spurs just run with Twin Towers, so I think this is fair.

Did Yi get an All-Star snub?

The ballots for the annual popularity contest known as the NBA All-Star Game were released last week. As in the past, NBA fans from around the world get to vote for their favorite players to decide who will be the ten starters for each conference.
All the usual suspects like Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade are among the 120 players listed on the ballots. But one notable name is missing: rookie Yi Jianlian.
Based on what many in the media have said about Yi - this column included - readers might assume Yi already has his ticket stamped for the Hall of Fame.
True, the Bucks' power forward has impressed in his first several games as he has silenced many preseason naysayers. But let's face it - his performance so far has hardly been All-Star caliber, and despite legitimate flashes of potential, Yi still has a long way to go and a lot to learn.
All-Star ballots, furthermore, rarely boast many rookies, and rookies that are included are hardly ever chosen anyway.
Although Yao Ming broke the mold in his rookie campaign, famously beating out All-Star incumbent Shaquille O'Neal as the Western Conference's starting center in 2003, his was a special case and was fueled by Chinese fan's fevered excitement at the chance to vote for one of their own.
Not even Cleveland phenom LeBron James was an All-Star in his first year.
Titan Sports claims that Yi's omission from the ballot is due to "NBA fears" that a rookie playing in the All-Star game will sully the game's image, but this is an unfounded accusation.
All-Star ballots are drawn up weeks before the season begins, and with Yi's ambivalence about playing for Milwaukee over the summer, no one knew for sure if he'd even be playing for the team, let alone playing so well.
It is true that if Yi's name was on the ballot he would almost certainly be voted in, riding a similar wave of support from the world's most populous nation like Yao did. It's just as well that Yi sits out this year - there will be plenty of All-Star games to come for the young Buck.
Yi himself hardly cares about the alleged "snub", choosing instead to focus on winning in the regular season, a characteristically mature stance for the young man. He is all but guaranteed a trip to All-Star weekend in New Orleans anyway since he's a virtual lock to play in the rookie-sophomore game, which precedes the big event.
Regardless, China will undoubtedly be represented in February since Yao Ming will most likely be voted as the West's starting center once again. He got the most votes of anyone in the league last year, and with the way he's playing this year he deserves to retain his title.

Let's Make a Dream Come True...

This season, one of the Most Underrated is approaching All-Star level...

Corey is really stepping up for the Clippers in Elton Brand's absence. He's leading his team in points, FT % and 3-pt %. Maggette's had three double-doubles so far this season. This is the Most Feasible Year in quite some time! And the signs are here:
                  • K. Garnett opened up a WEST All-Star spot (he's now a Celtic)
                  • Zach Randoloh: same (now plays for N.Y.)
                  • Rashard Lewis: same (he's in Orlando)
                  • BOTH Elton Brand AND Greg Oden are injured.

^ All those guys could have only hindered anybody's shot at an All-Star debut.
So it's like now or never for Corey Maggette.
And knowing that it's Corey's last chance, I made some drawings:

I hope he'll get a least a bit of the consideration he deserves (and the credit he keeps on earning)...

I've been waiting for this all my life. I'll dump school, girls and other stuff for 2 months. Just to help Corey get the credit he deserves.
If Maggette don't make it this year, he'll never make it...

Could you please help me.. at least a bit?

Tim Duncan has been moved back to forward on NBA.com's online ballot. He was originally at centre, but he'd never start at centre with Yao infront of him.

Here's how I think the West starters will look
F Dirk Nowitzki - KG's move to the east gives Dirk the opportunity to finally start
                    F Tim Duncan - duh
                    C Yao Ming
                    G Steve Nash
                    G Kobe Bryant

                    East Starters
                    F Lebron James
                    F Kevin Garnett
C Shaq - purely on fan support
G Dwayne Wade - if he can get healthy
G Michael Redd - wishful thinking maybe

Oh, now it's all starting to make sense.

BTW, I think you're absolutely right about how the starters will look!

The move of KG, Rashard Lewis and Zach Randolph to the East,
AND the injuries of Elton BRAND & Greg ODEN, give many underrated players a unique chance!
Among those overlooked is Clippers FW Corey Maggette. Sadly, it may also be his last chance this season. So I made another drawing about it:

It would really mean a LOT to me, if you can cast at least 1-2 votes for Maggette. THANK YOU for Your Time!

OK Shaliq, your dedication (and cool posters) convinced me to vote for Maggette. But I'm curious, why do you like him so much? What's your interest in him?

Corey Maggette's been leading by example for years. When young guys see him work hard, they push themselves to work hard too. Great players inspire teammates by what they do.
The first to arrive, the last to leave - that's Maggette.

That's why Corey's also my role model. And it hurts me that some hard worker's efforts have been and still are not noticed, sometimes even underrated...

Thank You! Words can't express what this means to me.

                              They barely quit though.
Anyway, I will vote 'Toine if you vote Maggette.
