  • Scola NBA Bust?

Isn't he the Euroleague's all-time leading scorer? He looks like he could possibly be a bust in the NBA. And this is not like Macijauskus or Spanoulis who didn't get a fair chance because he's getting lots of playing time each game.

It also isn't like Sharas either because Sharas got a backup role and produced while Scola really is not so far. I'm a bit surprised at how bad he is so far. He just looks absolutely horrible.

IMO he has done alright. He still needs to adjust to some of the rules and to the foul-calling in the NBA.

In my opinion he is doing just fine, though I watched only one game of him in the NBA so far.

He needs more time to adapt.

Why is this topic in Euroleague thread?

keep in mind that he has already played against 3 of the top players in the position on the world, Boozer, Duncan and Nowitzki (plus Aldridge who is an up and coming player on the NBA)

He only played 5 games so far, it's clear he's adapting to the game, the league and a new country. Time will tell if he's a bust or not, but it's absolutely premature to think that way right now.

It's obvious that McGrady and Yao hog the offense...and maybe that's the way it should be because they're both great players, but Scola will become a part of Houston's "big three." I think that he will slowly be integrated into the offense. Like K2 said, he needs time to adjust to the foul-calling in the NBA, which is so difficult (and inconsistent) for big men.

Hes not doing bad at all, since hes doing quite a good defense (hes still adjusing at those new faults rules) and colborating quite a bit in almost every single aspect of the team. Scoring is quite difficult for him for the reasons already exposed here, but in rebounds for example his numers arent bad.

But as people has said here, we still only have seen 5 matches, lets wait and see a little more to see how he can adapt to the team and what will be his final position in the rotation of the team (and the minutes he will play). I think that a player with a so proved quality deserves some patience and confidence.

                    He'll be fine.

With McGrady and Yao they aren't looking for him to be a huge scorer...just to provide more offense than Chuck Hayes with a similar level of rebounding and defense.

because i am at work, i cant type long. but this thread is jsut complete hogwash.
if it wasnt for scola(although stats didnt show it) rox would have lost to utah.
yeah he needs to adjust to the calls in the nba, but generically speaking Texans love somene who is tough and can "knuck if you buck" scola brings that to the team and im sure people in houston appreciate it.

heck i want a jersey of scola's and im not even from texas!

Scola playing well against the Spurs tonight, has 16 points late in the third quarter, 8-8 from the field.
