I'd like to revisit this topic of whether or not Sam Mitchell is "good" to his European players. In last night's Toronto loss to Washington, Mitchell's top 3 scorers were "European": Bargani, Calderon, and Delfino (he played in Europe, so according to us Yanks, he's a European). They were also the top 3 Raptors in minutes played. Last night's game was not a fluke. A Raptor games recently reveals that the Raptors top statistical players are the European players (with Parker, who fits our Yank definition of Euro, in there too). Bosh is still by far Toronto's top scorer, but the European players are getting plenty of minutes and plenty of good statistics.
I know that everyone was concerned about Garbajosa, whose minutes were very erratic earlier, but he was injured. In hindsight, was Mitchell right about Garbajosa? It appears that, yes, he was right about Garbajosa. And it also appears that all year, the European players have been excelling: Calderon is playing like an All-Star, Nesterovic is getting rebounds and playing great D, Bargnani is looking like the advertised draft pick, and Delfino is showing everyone the he could start on many NBA teams. And Parker, under Mitchell, has by far proven that he belongs in the NBA.
What do you guys think? Is Sam Mitchell still "against" European players?
