  • Many NBA stars excel at another sport...

Just saw a video online where Allen Iverson was playing (American) football in high school and supposedly was a better player than in basketball.

Which reminds me that a lot of NBA stars excel at another sport:

Lebron James: Football player in high school.

Steve Nash: Great soccer player in high school, won the provincial title. Discouraged by his coach in college so gave up.

Kobe Bryant: Played organized soccer growing up.
    LOL

Hakeem Olajuwon: Started career as a soccer goaltender.

Wilt Chamberlain: Professional volleyball player after NBA.

Michael Jordan: Professional baseball player at one time.

    Charles Barkley: Golf?...

Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone: WWE???

Anyway, for those of you who excel at another sport, do you think it helps your basketball? I excel(ed) in ping pong but doesnt seem to help my basketball skill that much.

Vlade Divac played as a goalkeeper in handball in his early days...

Anyway, for those of you who excel at another sport, do you think it helps your basketball? When I was still playing active basketball (youth selections, not anymore for already 4-5 years or so) I played for a while in a handball team (right wing) (a month), I totally owned the sport, I should have started to practise it seriously, but love for basketball didn't let me. I think I was even better in handball than in basketball (at least more dominant). It helped alot to my basketball skills. I played even more aggressive D and rebound the ball in better way, and also learned alot of "dirty tricks" in defense. I was also quite good at chess.
