  • Ralph Sampson

If not for injuries he'd be in the hall of fame right now. He was a 7'4" Kevin Garnett when he was healthy. He was a freak of nature...a 7'4" player who could play any position. He also was a huge reason Houston made the finals in 86'. When you look at his numbers his first 3 years it isn't hard to imagine him putting up 25, 12, 5 and 3 if he had stayed healthy and reached his prime

    83'-84' 21.0 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.0 apg, 0.9 spg, 2.4 bpg
    84'-85' 22.1 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 spg, 2.0 bpg
    85'-86' 18.9 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.6 bpg

How the hell does a 7'4" player average 1.3 spg and 3.6 apg?!

He was amazing. I still remember him an Hakeem being the original Twin Towers. He was so agile and athletic, it made a lot of today's big men look slow.

Yeah for people who have never seen him play or seen highlights of him he can be described as a 7'4" Kevin Garnett. People today are amazed at how KG plays like he does at 6'11" but Sampson was playing like that at 7'4"! Kind of funny how he played power forward for Houston when he was 6 inches taller than Hakeem who played center.

Ralph Sampson is only one greatest player at 7'4 above!

But it was his frame that eventually took the toll and cut his career short... How unlucky for Houston, the NBA and of course, for us!
