Duncan had four years of college experience compared to Oden's one injury shortened season. Hyping draft picks is always fun, but it is just as likely that Oden will be the next Joe Smith instead of the next Tim Duncan. >_<

I agree with you Greg Oden spend 1 yr. in College while Tim Duncan played until his senior year. Oden has a few low posts move compare to Duncan i can compare Oden to a Rookie Dikembe Mutombo who average 16 Points and 10 RPG. I think Oden will eventually turn into a dominating Center once he get the groove to play in the NBA.

Here are Duncan and Oden's stats

      Tim Duncan ( 1996-97 NCAA)

Height: 6'10 ( with out shoes) 6'11 ( NBA listed Height)
      Weight: 238
      1996-97 stats: 20.8 ppg; 14.7 rpg
Profile: The consensus best player in college basketball and expected to be the top pick in the draft. ... Stayed in school for his senior season and improved versatility by working on his perimeter game. ... Is one of 10 players in NCAA history to score 2,000 points and pull down 1,500 rebounds. ... Increased his scoring average every year while at Wake Forest. ... Was named NABC Defensive Player of the Year and was 10th in the nation in blocked shots at 3.3 per game. Will need to put on weight and may play more power forward in San Antonio with David Robinson at center. ... Has excellent footwork and discipline and rarely fouled out of games. ... Free-throw shooting, which slumped to 63.6 % by his senior year, must improve. ... A native of the St. Croix of the U.S. Virgin Islands. ... Won the Naismith and Wooden Awards his senior season.

Greg Oden 6'11 ( with out shoes), 7'0 ( with shoes)
      Weight: 250
Freshman (2006-07): Led the Buckeyes in scoring (15.7 ppg), rebounding (9.6 rpg) and blocked shots (105). Posted 14 double-doubles and scored 20 or more points five times. Reached double figures in rebounds 15 times. Had a career-high 19 rebounds in a win over Purdue. Blocked four or more shots 17 times, including a career-high seven blocks in a win against Michigan. Had a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds in a win against Iowa. Averaged 16.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in six NCAA Tournament games. Came through with a 25 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks against Florida in the national championship game. Missed six games recovering from right wrist surgery.

High School: Named 2006 Naismith Prep Player of the Year, awarded annually since 1987 to the best high school player in the nation. Two-time Gatorade Indiana and National Player of the Year (2005, 2006). Only the second player to repeat as the Gatorade National Player of the Year, joining LeBron James. Also a two-time USA Today and Parade Magazine First-Team selection. Tallied 1,873 points, 1,058 rebounds and 341 blocked shots in high school, leading Lawrence North to three consecutive Class 4A state titles and a 103-7 overall record, including 24-1 in the postseason. The 2006 Lawrence North squad also was the first team from the state of Indiana to be ranked No. 1 nationally by either USA Today or Sports Illustrated, both of which rated the Wildcats the top-ranked high school team in 2005-06. Named a 2006 McDonald’s High School All-American and played in the McDonald’s All-America Game.

Strengths: A 6'11 Center with all the physical attributes to develop into a dominant NBA center. A game-changer on defense with his ability to block shots and rebound. Runs the floor exceptionally well. Plays with a calm and confident demeanor.

        Oden is no Duncan

Duncan was way more polished when he came into the league than Oden. It helps that he played 4 years of college before turning pro. In time Oden can be a defensive force in the paint and will develop a strong low post game but Duncan is on a whole other level.

Kevin Durant for NBA Rookie Of the Year

Greg Oden might likely end up as one of the biggest draft busts of all time. Even before his career starts it has been proven that he will be prone to injury because he is suffering from some kind of a health problem.

Shame that the Portland Trailblazers waste their draft picks again in picking Greg "OLDEN" Oden in the draft. We all know that Durant is the real deal when he average 25 PPG in his freshmen year in the US NCAA.

Three things that might cheer up Blazers fan:

          1. From what we know about microfracture surgery, it seems younger players can come back at 100 percent (such as Amare Stoudemire).

          2. The Oden-less Blazers are headed for another top-five pick because they play in a tough conference; if Oden comes back healthy in 2009, they're going to be stacked.

          3. Video Game Greg is still healthy on Portland's "NBA Live 2008" roster.

Kevin Durant might turn out to become as one of the greatest player of this era, while Oden will be known as Sam Bowie version 2.0

          Durants Rookie stats

          22.3 PPG
          5 APG
          3 RPG

He's going to show Portland just how stupid they were for drafting Oden. Greg was the most over-rated prospect in draft history his hype is far out superior when Lebron was in High School.

After his predraft physical with Portland, rumors spread that the Blazers were concerned about his knees, followed by a round of stories that they weren't concerned at all. In a GM Perspective Oden was the much safer pick but they should not gamble knowing that Oden's Knees are vulnerable to certain injuries.

MJ VS Sam Bowie, Part 2!!! Kevin Durant will be leading the Seattle Supersonics in scoring and number of Field Goal attempts ala Carmelo Anthony in his Rookie Year. Portland will probably regret this draft in the next 10 yrs, I just hope they land OJ Mayo, Michael Beasley or even Derrick Rose in next years NBA Draft so that at least they can be competitive againts the aging teams of the Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

People tend to throw the word 'bust' around way too quickly. He's what, 19? While out for this season, it is still way too early to consider him a bust.

He might be only 19 yrs.old but Oden has been plague by 2 major injuries right before his NBA Career starts. How can any one thing that he will lasts a decade playing in the NBA while he is already a damage goods.

The NBA is a much physical league than any basketball organization in the world and Oden needs to adapt to its environment.

I think Bynum will be the closest to Shaq, Oden could be the next Patrick Ewing and Howard could be a smaller David Robinson.

Patrick Ewing Height w/o shoes: 6'11", Listed Height: 7'0" Weight: 255

Dwight Howard Height w/o shoes: 6'9", Listed Height: 6'11", Weight: 265

David Robinson Height w/o shoes: 7'0", Listed Height: 7'1", Weight: 250

Andrew Bynum Height w/o shoes: 7'1", Listed Height: 7'0", Weight: 310

                Shaquille O'Neal(Prime) Height w/o shoes: 7'1", Listed Height: 7'1", Weight: 315

                Watch out for Andrew Bynum!
