Sam Mitchell wins coach of the year

Toronto Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell has been named NBA coach of the year. Ironically, most people left him for dead after a 1-8 start to the season. What he did was lead the Raptors to their first division title and first playoff appearance in 5 years.

Well deserved, he was the clear winner. The Raptors become no longer a borderline team and much of the credit goes for him.

more to it than him turning it around colangelo back in dece bitched @ mitchel to force him to use his euros; hence the turnaround. im stickin to this story. the COY should have gone to someone else. as far as im concerned toronto as an experiment run nad gun type team with euros who are physically capable to play an NBA 48 min game. why not actually bring an american/euro experienced coach or jsut go all out a euro coach. raptors would do better. well maybe not so much defensively, but it'd be the suns of the east.

Don't worry Phantim3dx, Colangelo is a likely bet to get exec. of the year, for the signings of Parker and Garbo, and drafting Bargnani.

This is hilarious. For at least last 3 years pretty much every basketball fan in Europe after watching Parker play was like: " Wtf is this guy doing here ?! How come he is not in the NBA ?!". And now Colangelo is a genius for doing the obvious. I think it would be more appropriate if every single GM in the NBA, except for Clangelo, was given a special title for outstanding stupidity instead
