  • Houston vs. GSW - 2018 Western Finals MVP

If there was an award like this, who would you vote for?

*I am not asking the Eastern Finals MVP since the winner is obvious.

Draymond. It was him who made big plays when his team needed them most, and his completely sealing off Capela was the only reason Golden State had any advantage down low. That didn't change until PJ Tucker started doing the same to their bigs.

Steph was huge too but it was Draymond who won this series. They wouldn't have won it without him.

This is an entertaining match of NBA between Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets, at Oracle Arena, the home of Warriors. This is a principal duel, as these teams have met in playoffs a few times before. Please, review our thoughts on this match, here below.

        Houston Rockets
Currently, Rockets are in the 5th seed of the Western Conference standings (33-24). They are looking forward to winning some games and get this home court advantage. James Harden is still playing on the MVP level. By now, he is averaging 40ppg in 32 consecutive games which is an all-time achievement. Capela is coming back to the lineup and it will surely give them some more power in the paint. Kenneth Faried will come off the bench and in the result, Houston has some nice rebounding and inside defense every minute of the game.
Rockets trademark is shooting many threes. They are among leaders in 3 pointers made and attempted. Out of their last 10 games, they’ve won 6 and in road games, Houston’s record is 13-15. Rockets leaders: James Harden (36.6ppg, 7.7apg, 6.7rpg), Clint Capela (17.6ppg, 12.6rpg), Eric Gordon (16.1ppg), Chris Paul (15.6ppg, 8.0apg).

        Golden State Warriors
Currently, Warriors are in the 1st seed of the Western Conference (41-16). They are probably grabbing this 1st seed, but to stay at the top Warriors have to win those tough games. As well as Rockets, This is a team that shoots a whole lot of threes. Their playstyle is based on that three-point shot and we can say that GSW lives behind the arc. Good news that DeMarcus Cousins will be able to play unlimited minutes. That means that Boogie has fully recovered from his ACL injury and will give everything he has on the court. Kevin Durant is coming off the all-star MVP award. It looks like he is on a roll and he will really want to show off his A+ game. In home games, GSW is always unbeatable (22-7). Warriors leaders: Stephen Curry (28.6ppg, 5.2apg, 5.1rpg), Kevin Durant (27.6ppg, 7.0rpg, 5.9apg), Klay Thompson (21.9ppg, 40% 3FG)

        H2H
So, this is a clash of two teams that have very similar playstyles. Shooting threes, running to fastbreak – are their points of emphasis. These teams saw each other two times and in both games, Rockets came victorious. Last game had overtime and James Harden made a buzzer beater. But this time Warriors are clear favorites. They are winning a lot and are in a good shape.
