He's one of the best scorers in the game. He's shown that in a few games since coming back, and he's still shaking the rust off.
He might be coming off of an injury but he's a bonafide superstar. Those don't grow on trees.

He doesn't really have a great basketball IQ, that is something that is a must at PG position.
He's shooting better this year, for one. I've seen him be an excellent passer, and defense and decision-making are things that can be taught.
I look forward to seeing him show what he can really do when not having to defer to guys like Gary Harris and Jamal Murray and having his detractors have to eat their words. The kid has the kind of talent that can't be taught or acquired.

He is a FA. Teams don't want to give him a huge contract due to his injury, non-existant defense and ONE SEASON where he was among NBA elite.
He is not a superstar. He has played ONE season in a system that suited him. He is a fringe all star player/scorer all of his career.

Mudiay is like a point guard version of Lance or Tyreke. He's got excellent passing instincts and the kind of talent as a penetrator that just can't be taught. Plus he just screams winner.
I don't think you comprehend just how difficult his NBA career has been. He didn't play in college, and played his high school ball in Texas before playing in China. He's never played in a league where defense and having a small margin of error is a thing, until now in the East. He was drafted basically as the savior of the Nuggets then a year later was relegated to inconsistent minutes and a back seat while they gave the keys to the franchise to a player who couldn't have carried his jock strap prior to coming to the NBA.
Uhh na.... IT has been balling since Sactown. His last year there, not only was he averaging 20 a game but so was Boogie, and Rudy was close to that. Know what that means? It means he's not selfish or ball-dominant.
He's been this good every year since his last year as a King. That's why Phoenix paid him all that money. He was this good every year in Boston. His numbers were only down in PHX because he was playing with two other point guards.
You're ridiculous. It's asinine to drag him for his defense when the vast majority of point guards in the NBA don't play any, especially when you all talk up Kyrie -who has never been as good as IT and never will be.

He's too much of a big personality and too talented to be relegated to a bench role but too much of a unique player to be on every team for very long without being replaced. And now he's getting too old to be getting long-term deals, especially now that he's had a major injury.
Phoenix was a bad move on his part that completely derailed his career. He was absolutely balling in Sactown then did the same in Boston. But he got hurt so they traded him for the best player they could get who was healthy. His career has been determined in large part by having to prove people wrong after being drafted so low. Most late picks never get that shot.
And it doesn't help that there's so many similar point guards coming out, some like Whitehead who are 6'4".
But there's no denying he can average twenty in a way that changes any team no matter who he plays for. Cleveland was just bad timing.
Put him on a team like the Clippers minus Lou Will and Austin and he's not just an All-Star but part of a strong core that fits him perfectly if they can keep DeAndre and Avery.

I hadn't realized there were some smaller deals right before the deadline.
Pistons moved Brice Johnson and Willie Reed to Memphis and Chicago, respectively, for James Ennis III and Jameer.
I really like this move for Detroit, getting Ennis when they desperately need that two-way wing. Bullock has impressed now that he's finally been given a shot but Ennis has been doing it for a few years now.
I don't understand trading away all of their backup bigs not named Henry Ellenson, however. Nor do I understand this trade from Memphis' side unless it's to free up minutes for Selden and Brooks and/or they think they need a true five behind Marc Gasol.
