GUIMARAS - A man was wounded after he was shot by his drinking buddy over a heated discussion on their teams' performance in the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals.
Gaudencio Galuno, 32, was drinking with Emmanuel Ebreo in Barangay Pandaraonan in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras last Sunday, a day before the airing of Game 5 of the series.
Galuno, who is a fan of the San Antonio Spurs, said he challenged Ebreo, a fan of the Miami Heat, to bet on who will win the finals.
Galuno said he cannot remember exactly what he said against the Miami Heat to cause Ebreo to shoot him.
Ebreo admitted shooting the victim, saying he was very angry with Galuno.
Galuno is still being treated in the hospital.
Authorities have yet to recover the gun used in the incident.
Ebreo is currently detained in Nueva Valencia Police Station and is charged with frustrated murder.
