  • How will/should Tracy McGrady be remembered?

Tracy McGrady retired from the NBA today. So how will you remember him and his 16 year career?

Two things from top of my head:
    - 13 pts (and win!) in last 40 sec of game against SAS... That's unique, and almost impossible to repeat!
    - the off-the-backboard dunk in allstar... one of the most impressive dunks I've ever seen.

Both of the things above are wildly exceptional, and proves the guy was a special player, no matter how his overall career is to be graded.

I'll remember him for putting in a non-effort for the Toronto Raptors until they shipped him off to a U.S. based team where he wanted to play.

I'll remember him as one of the most gifted wing players in NBA history, a guy who had a ceiling as high as Kobe but only achieved a fraction of what he was capable of. Some of it was not his fault (injuries) but some of it was (questionable work ethic, lack of consistent effort especially on defense, settled for jumpers too often). But at his peak he was as good as anyone in the NBA. It will be interesting to see if voters put him into the Hall of Fame.

A career loser. Had the tools to be a HOF but just did not have enough heart to step up in the big moments.

I think he is a great player and at the same time he is a loser too.
