Knicks staying alive for the series in Madison square garden. Knicks won 85-75.

Missed free-throws and a bad shooting night did the Pacers in tonight. 19-33 from the line.

The Knicks are virtually unwatchable on offense. Mike Woodson, who ran to same stagnant, isolation plays in Atlanta, doesn't know Xs and Os from squares and rectangles. He's a horrible offensive coach. But some of it is the make-up of the team. The Knicks are built from the outside-in; too many wing players who's first instinct is to shoot and bigs who don't contribute offensively and are soft on the boards (err...Tyson Chandler). What's strange is that this team has three natural point guards in Felton, Kidd and Prigioni, yet can't establish any continuity on offense (which gets back to my first point about Woodson palm coaching with his offensive sets).

San Antonio are going to win this. They advance into the 2013 Western Conference finals to meet the Memphis Grizzlies. This is the first western finals trip for the Spurs since 2008 and they have a score to settle with the Grizzlies for that first round upset back in the 2011 playoffs.

Indiana advances into the eastern conference finals to meet the Miami HEAT. Indiana makes their east finals return after their last, which was back in 2004. That team was lead by Jermaine O'Neal and Ron Artest.

Thank the heavens NY is out of the playoffs. They represent the absolute worst in NBA basketball.

Now that the semifinalists are complete, I'm looking forward to the West Finals. Two teams who get physical in the game will go at it.

How good to see Spurs and Grizzlies in west finals and it's nice to see Indiana in East, but they will be killed by Heat. What a nice matchup Spurs - Grizzlies! Some passing culture, fundamental bigs, team play!

Spurs take game 1 of the western conference finals 105-83. San Antonio had a quick start by outscoring the upstart Grizzlies 31-14. Memphis rallied in the second quarter and it was a ballgame all the way into the third. Fourth quarter belonged to the Spurs and both teams pulled out starters with five minutes to play.

Spurs lead 1-0. Experience trumps eagerness on this one. Tony Parker played superb as he was constantly finding traffic routes in the Grizzlies zone as well as hitting open shooters through his facilitation.

If Z-Bo can't find a way around to adjust his game and counterface the various defenses that San Antonio were throwing at him then the Grizzlies will be in big trouble and I don't see this series going past 5 or maximum 6 games for San Antonio.

Popovic was great with his defensive strategies on Z-Bo as they literally took him out of the game and disrupted his game flow which led to Z-Bo being frustrated and ineffective in the game.... Even Gasol was facing some tough times with Splitter and Diaw always having their hands up and staying glued to him which led him to take some difficult low percentage shots.
Quincy Pondexter and Mike Conley were the players that kept the Grizzles close to the Spurs and they were the reason the lead was down down to just 6 points at one point in the 3rd quarter but then the Spurs managed to extend the lead back again.

Tony Parker was awesome and the main catalyst of the Spurs in this game... His mid range shooting was superb and he kept finding ways to move around the Grizzlies defenders and get high percentage wide open shots.

Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green played great games as well.... Matt Bonner also hit some big 3's throughout the game

Agreed. Lionel Hollins too, must re-orient the offense in Game 2. San Antonio did a great job in stacking the shade and the free-throw lane with a 2-3 dugout. Essentially stacked there as Randolph found himself pinned in the post with a quick double team. A quick rotation in the middle left no alley for a ball reversal. I think Grizzlies need to make more PnRs in game 2 just for variety sake. Dumping the ball down-low to Randolph was well anticipated.

The Spurs almost gave the game away, but re-grouped in overtime to win 93-89 and take a 2-0 lead over the Grizzlies.

James had a driving lay-up to lift the HEAT 103-102 against the Pacers in OT. Paul George made a trey by the end of 4th to put the game in OT. Awesome game.

                                BUMP

HEAT now up 2-1 against the Pacers after last night's rallying victory.

Currently, San Antonio leads 3-0 against Memphis and one win away to sweep the Memphis Grizzlies and return to the NBA Finals since their last trip in 2007. San Antonio has been dissecting the zone defenses that the Grizzlies have employed. A strong baseline exploit headed by Tony Parker as well as mid-weak side shuffles for shooters have proven the bane of the Grizzlies.
