Billy Hunter will be leading the Player's Union against the League's radical agendas on reforming all levels of salaries for players and the proposed hard cap, alongside "dead money" insinuations to be introduced.

I have an idea that might be better than a hard cap. Just strengthen the luxury tax. For teams 10% over the cap charge dollar for dollar, teams 20% over charge $1.50 per dollar, teams 30% over charge $2.00 per dollar over, and so on.
That would discourage teams from overspending and still allow some flexibility.

Also, in terms of player annual raises over the course of a contract - instead of 5-10% raises, make annual raises similar to that of the desired inflation rate ie: 2%.

That makes sense to me. It's sort of a "progressive tax for teams." I kind of like that idea. Teams that spend over the luxury tax will pay progressively more and hope that their players are worth that extra money, but teams that completely overspend, like the Knicks of recent years, will be actively discouraged from spending too much.

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas

NBA Player's Union studying the Discertification of the NFL Player's Union

Billy Hunter confirmed it as the NBA Player's Union alongside their Legal Representatives are learning from the Discertification of the NFL Player's Union to gain momentum or leverage on the NFL Lockout.

On this case, challenging the League's Broadcasting rights for reason of advantage, on the event of the lockout.

                $45 Million Salary Cap

The League's proposal of a $45 Million Hard cap is un-acceptable to the NBA Player's Union.

NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver noted before the lottery that the NBA and NBAPA are scheduled to have discussions about an agreement for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in whichever city...

                    Amnesty Clause

The term "Amnesty Clause" has been floating around as of late. From what I read, the clause on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement allows NBA Teams to cut one or two existing player contracts to go under the salary cap IF the Hard Cap of $45 Million will be agreed upon by the League and the Player's Union.

For example, the Magic can terminate the contract of Gilbert Arenas or Hedo Turkoglu to adhere to the $45 Million threshold.

The owners seem to have yielded on contract guarantees. The 2 sides will meet again on Tuesday. The clock is ticking, but finally a small piece of good news.

                              Flex Cap

The League and NBA Team Owners' Association is now offering a Flex Cap that will set the Salary Cap for all teams to $62 Million. On the Flex Cap, teams are still allowed to go over the limit but will have a Financial Onus for players if the average salary cap of all NBA Teams exceed $62,000,000.

Kind of reminds me of the NHL Payroll and Salary Cap.
