Vogel looks for new assistants

Interim Head Coach Frank Vogel has announced that current Assistant Coaches Jay DeFruscio, Walter McCarty and Vitaly Potapenko will no longer be with the team for no season. Long time assistant coach Dan Burke is expected to stay with the team.

The announcement came after a meeting with Pacers President Larry Bird where it is reported that Bird urged Vogel to look and hire new personnel around him.

I think Collinson was the reason why the didn't perfom better. Everyody was expecting Collinson to put the same type of numbers that he did in New orleans, 7-10 assists, 15-18 points but he could not deliver it.

Shaw to meet with Pacers

It is reported that the Indiana Pacers are set to interview former Los Angeles Lakers Assistant Coach Brian Shaw for an Assistant Coach position within the team.

The Indiana Pacers drafted Kawhi Leonard at 15th Overall but traded Leonard to the San Antonio Spurs for point guard George Hill. Later in the day, the Pacers drafted Latvia's Davis Bertans at 42nd Overall and will also ship Bertans to the Spurs.

The Pacers now have a solid point guard rotation as Hill joins Darren Collison to share point guard duties.

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to terms with interim head coach Frank Vogel as the team's permanent head coach. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Pacers will conduct a Press Conference within this week to formally announce Vogel.

Pacers fans on the Indianapolis paper website seem to be happy about this. The Pacers are my other team (next to the Cavs), so I guess I'm glad that they just hired him without a very long process.

Apparently Larry Bird wanted to get an experienced coaching staff behind Vogel. What experience is that? Brian Shaw? Walter McCartney? Vitaly Potapenko? Shaw has some playing experience, but not much coaching. Oh well.

I think this team is on the move. Hopefully we'll see Roy Hibbert get in another good year along with Hansbrough, who shot up midseason.

I commend Indiana as well for hiring the coach that took the team to the playoffs since taking over when O'Brien was fired.

Shaw has plenty on assistant coaching experience with the Los Angeles Lakers where Shaw was hired in 2005 and have been with the Lakers until this summer of 2011. So Shaw does bring a bit of championship experience and first hand experience under Jackson. Shaw will be fine as the lead assistant coach.

On McCarthy and Potapenko, the Pacers are not renewing their contracts as parties are expected to part. Let's see how Vogel fill out his coaching staff.

Former Indiana Pacers star Jalen Rose was sentenced to twenty days of Prison after pleading guilty for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
