  • Indiana Pacers beating the New Orleans Hornets 115-107 thanks to the two men in Paul George, who scored a career high 37 points. Roy Hibbert had a triple double.

George was aggressive as he flipped the switch while Hibbert was assertive in the paint.

      Mad cover too!

Hornets had the lead (and easy cover) if it ended in regulation. But alas the Pacers wanted more-- and wanted badly to cover that 7-point spread!

Welcome to the NBA! Donaghy must be laughing at this game.

      • For this season, George Hill thrives on crunch time. This is like the third time that I saw him deliver when the game is on the line and clock winding down. He is fearless and Vogel trusts him.

He has learned a lot from Tony Parker on his days with the Spurs. Now he is putting good use to it.

                    • NBA trade rumors: Pacers open to dealing Danny Granger, according to report

The Indiana Pacers appear ready to part ways with talented forward Danny Granger and may do so before the Feb. 21st trade deadline, per Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld. The team has enjoyed success this season while Granger has been sidelined with a left knee injury. The emergence of Paul George may be another reason why the Pacers are ready to move Granger. From Kennedy:

This isn't the first time that Danny Granger's name has surfaced in trade rumors. However, according to multiple executives, this is the first time that the Indiana Pacers have actually considered moving the 29-year-old forward. In the past, the Pacers have made it clear that Granger wasn't going anywhere and rival executives echoed that sentiment after their inquiries about Granger were shot down by Indiana...
There has been no mention of possible suitors for Granger, but with him being a career 18.2 point-per-game scorer it should not be hard to find takers. Granger's salary this season is $13 million and he is set to make $14 million for the 2012-13 season -- and that is the last year of his deal.

There could be some concerns with Granger's play, as the knee injury is there and his points per game totals have dipped in recent years from his career high of 25.8 points per game during the 2008-09 season. It will be interesting to see if the Pacers choose to deal Granger before the deadline.

The emergence of Paul George as an all-star makes Granger available for a trade if the Pacers judge it to be a good one. Some cap relief will help Indiana stay afloat.

                      • Current Pacers and their similar characteristics of the 90s Knicks

The current Pacers team definitely reminds me of my favourite team of all time: the 90s Knicks.

I can see why these Pacers could be the ones who could upset the Heat.

However, if the Pacers cannot accomplish this feat this year, I'm sure they'll get the Heat next year.

Their tough, rugged and physical style of play counter-acts the fast, free flowing, slamma jamma momma of the Heat.

Aren't they more similar to the Pistons (recent championship run) though? They are #1 in defense and you really don't have a superstar (but lots of good players) in that line-up.

                          • Danny Granger suited up but looked rusty and far from his form last year. That's expected for his first game, but the touches he used to enjoy in the sidelines of the reverse squad and high opposite from the Hibbert reverse quad is not there. Most of the time, his teammates deferred to a cutting or rotating Paul George.

Indiana's offense dynamically changed based on times possessions since Granger went down in the pre-season and the emergence of Paul George.

Still, a healthy Granger and an aggressive George allows them duplicity in the wings of Frank Vogel's center quad with Hibbert / West will have two cutting wings or two folding shooters. We'll see how Vogel and co. adjusts with Granger's presence
