  • Adam Morrison NBA Tribute

Nicknamed "Ammo" and sporting a pornstache, Adam was regarded by many as the second coming of Larry Bird. Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest player ever, handpicked Adam to join his team. Adam finally proved his worth by winning 2 NBA titles in his very short career.

Highlights of his legendary NBA career:

Its really too bad he hasn't been able to do anything in the NBA.........I am a big fan of his, he is one of my favorite college basketball players of all time.

I've heard he was just too slow on defense and he couldn't get his shots up like he did in college because of the size of defenders in the NBA. I always remember him being a crafty player who was able to get shots up on more athletic players in college but I guess he's too slow to play the 2 and not big or strong enough to play the 3. Plus he's not that great of a ball handler.

I'll miss you Adam.............hope he gets a chance somewhere outside of the U.S. soon.

I remember he tore his ACL in Charlotte and I think that really affected his game. But I honestly don't remember ever seeing him play in NBA.

I wish Ammo all the best; lasting 4 seasons with diabetes while receiving just 1 or 2 scholarships in college was quite some accomplishment.

That said, it seems like quite a few of the white guys who excelled in college and drafted in the lottery turned out to be MAJOR busts in NBA: Morrison, Luke Jackson, Joe Alexander...

I forgot about his ACL tear, yeah, I'm sure that affected him a lot.

I saw a couple of his games his rookie season when he looked ok. I remember he averaged double digits but shot some horrible % under 40%. (Looking it up)- yep, 11.8 ppg on 37.6% shooting. And his rebounding and assists numbers weren't good either, considering how much playing time he got that year.

I still think he has enough talent to be a good role player in the NBA just like Redick is. He just need to find his rhythm and his confidence and play that role. He can be a spot up shooter or instant offense off the bench but he need to be aggressive. Everytime he get the ball, he was looking to pass it. And it was funny when he was setting screens for guys like Mbenga and Brown. It was nice for him to be a team player but honestly I think Phil Jackson wants him to look to score. He need to display his strength (scoring and shooting). I don't think NBA coaches really care about his hustles and doing small things. They have guys with little skills to do those things. Ammo is very skilled and crafty. He may not be that superstar like he was in college buy he still got enough game to be a role player in the NBA. Right now Ammo need to go to a system where he can grow his confidence while working on getting his groove back. Maybe in Europe or maybe in D League , it doesn't really matter as long as he's playing a lot of minutes.

I dunno...his rookie season (before the ACL injury) had to be one of the worst NBA seasons of all time. He's like Brandon Jennings plus some glorious hair and minus any of his good attributes.

I think he'd be a good fit in an league where he could take 30 shots a game and the team would promise only to look at the "points" column of the box score. Maybe he can combine with Marbury?

              Funny

Dang that was funny stuff! At times, he looked like an oversized kid who won some type of contest to sit on the bench. Sad to see him and my favorite Kiwi waived, though. =(

last year's summer league I believe he averaged more than 20 points, and even some of his teammates are saying that Adam Morrison can play, but he cannot defend. If for example he went to the Magic after his Bobcats stint(if he was traded to magic), then most probably he and reddick(his college nemesis) would/could have been a great compliment for dwight.

                  Adam Morrison to play abroad?

According to Chris Tomasson's Twitter and I heard from ESPN Radio that Adam Morrison is working out in Gonzaga's Training Facilities and has instructed his agent to seek offers from teams abroad.

He was a good scorer, and I hope he gets a contract in Europe or even in some Asian league. You can never have an NBA career without having some decent ounce of defensive skills. If you lack the ability to contribute to the team defense, expect to fight with free agents and rookies every Summer Camp/Training Camp.

Jimmer is facing the same problem.. He is entering the NBA as a liability on defense, and it doesn't help that he's a short shooting guard. He can score, that's great, but everybody can score in the league with the right shot selection and players to feed you the ball.. Defense man, defense.

Not saying that he would have been great, but I do think his injuries have signifigantly affected his career.

If he is anywhere near the player he was at Gonzaga he could be successful over there. But who knows if he is any good anymore, I mean, he's hardly played in a real game for the last 3 years.
