Allen Iverson to China? Why It Would Be a Shame To See the NBA Lose A.I.

By Ray Boyd (76ers Featured Columnist) on September 17, 2010

Since 1996, there has not been a tougher little man in the NBA than Allen Iverson. In fact, there probably has not been a tougher player, regardless of height, than Allen Iverson.

"The Answer's" game has been the embodiment of toughness and passion since the day he brought his talents to the Philadelphia 76ers. He not only played in the NBA, he made a new definition of the NBA player.

Allen Iverson brought a certain "hip hop" culture to the NBA, which was associated with his attitude, his clothing, and of course his trademark braids. His brand was loved, not only here but also around the world. Iverson jerseys flew off the shelves here in the USA and across the globe at an enormous rate.

Although Iverson's game has clearly diminished, it is not gone. He averaged 13.9 points per game with the Sixers last season and if a return is possible, that would be the only team that would seem right for Iverson.

Iverson is one of those NBA players that just does not look right in any other jersey than that of the Sixers. Iverson's 13.9 points might be low for him, but that is far from gone. There are a ton of players in today's NBA that average that or less who play roles on teams.

Allen Iverson has made it clear that he will play any role for any team that wants him, and if that is the case, there is no reason why the NBA should lose such a legend so early.

I'm not really surprised that no team in the NBA is interested in the services of A.I. His productivity over the last few years has really been on a downhill especially considering his injuries as well.

I think it would be good for him to play in the CBA just like Marbury did and I think he can make good money there considering the Chinese market and his popularity overseas.

13.9ppg (his average last season) is not bad at all, no matter what crappy team you play for. But AI did this to himself. He let it be known he ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT come off the bench, and that's something every team wants to avoid.

AI is not Marbury, he probably has too much pride to go to China. Yesterday Foshan team admitted that they are "very unlikely" to acquire AI because they couldn't afford him. Meanwhile, Marbury has a new tattoo up his arm that reads "I love China" (according to his twitter).

Well AI can really help any team but I bet he wouldn't accept to be a role player on any team and so far that's one of the biggest reasons why didn't sign with any team so far, he asks for a big role, good playing time and a decent salary that many teams might not accept to pay for someone who is not anymore the superstar he once was.

AI really wanted a big role in a team that's why there are no team in NBA would accept him. He is a good player before but now, i think there are much more player that is much better than him.
