Imagine Howard, Griffin and Love together on future USA teams, nightmare for other countries. Give me a thumbs up if I hit a bullseye here.
True Kevin Love and Howard would be amazing. I was proud of the other nations. Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Russia, France all have great squads. Lietuva, Serbia, Turkey, Puerto Rico are great too.

I'm a LBJ fan and by the way he played great, but still KD is the MVP. Without him, they could have not won the Gold. The game was very close and Gasol brothers and Ibaka is dominating inside the paint but its the guards who made the difference and off course the big three of KD, LBJ and KB. KD shooting killed Spain. I'm not rooting for USA, but they deserve the win and I'm also happy for Spain and other countries who gave USA a scare. It really shows that basketball worldwide is very competitive.

For one, it shows that we aren't so reliant on fast breaks, alley oops, etc. We can blow teams out even if they impose their tempo on us. I think this bodes well for future USA teams.

That doesn't work with this team. The Americans are content with shooting 30 3pts a game. USA has allowed its opponets to score. Liths scored 95pts, Argentina 97, Australia 86 this is an average of 92.6 points a game. The USA allows teams to score a great ammount. This team is weird. They are not winning in the fashion most predicted they would.

When you know you can score around 120 a game, what is the incentive and motivation to play great defense? So you can win by 50 points instead of 30? What's the difference?

ever wonder why Blake Griff suddenly injured in the camp?
All of the USA big men were injured. Many required surgery. Blake Griffin was injured in the playoffs. It was ridky for him to play in the olympics. Colangelo would have loved to have Howard, Griffin, LeMarcus Aldridge etc yet injuries prevented it.

Anthony Davis made a grandslam in terms of achievements as an amateur player and being rewarded for USA basketball with that.. and unlike Emeka Okafor(to be fair Emeka did not have many chances to play in the garbage time as USA struggled in 2004) can be an asset to the team by being aggresive in the D side.

With Cousins on the floor against European teams, he will be more of a liability due to his still flawed offensive game that is far from efficient. Despite Davis being a rookie, he plugs in an interior need with his defense, unlike Cousins who will likely get two fouls in three minutes. Faster than Tyson Chandler.

Cousins is volatile but at least he has more experience than Davis.

If it's size they need there are still a few who they can choose in the NBA.

Why weren't these players included in the initial pool? Or were they?
Aldridge was in the pool but got injured, Bynum was asked to join the pool but declined, Cousins is on the Select team but there were some thoughts about promoting him it might have been a mistake not to, not sure about Hibbert.
