  • Francisco garcia or someone else sholud be in starting line up soon instead of john salmons

    • I personally think until Salmons can find his shot, Donte Greene should start over him. He's a better defender, more versatile for the defense. He is also really athletic, pretty valuable for a young team like ours.

      • Samuel Dalembert really killed the Kings last night. Dalembert showed what he used to bring for the Kings: 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Dalembert owned the pain as well as halted Demarcus Cousins.

After a tight first half, the Rockets kept outscoring us and that, the Kings could not recover. Tomorrow, we play the Dallas Mavericks.

I agree. Maybe it is time to move Salmons to the bench and Keith Smart should give a try Francisco Garcia or Donte Greene. We are getting the law of diminishing returns from Salmons. He was inserted into the starting crew to add firepower with the offense. His percentage is down and at times, he finds himself at a defensive disadvantage against bigger small forwards.

Garcia would be my first pick for the SF spot. Garcia is a shooter and at times is a nifty passer for teammates.

While Donte Greene brings in athleticism and defense at the SF spot. The only drawback is with Greene's erratic offense and his bad tendencies. Greene shoots too many threes and at times, is not aggressive when the timing calls for it. He settles for too many jumpers.

You're right. Greene is probably our second best defender after Evans. What Greene brings is length and defense. While Salmons has trouble guarding mobile SFs that are taller than him. Maybe it is time we experiment with either Greene or Garcia.

            • The Sacramento Kings playing on empty gas as they were routed by the Dallas Mavericks 99-60. The Kings found themselves outscored in almost every quarter: 11-27, 12-25, 22-20 and 15-27.

              • The Sacramento Kings will play next the Minnesota Timberwolves at their lair. Minnesota is bannered by the double double machine that is Kevin Love, playmaker Ricky Rubio and the 2nd overall pick in last year's draft, Derrick Williams.

                • Should be a tough matchup for us, and we certainly will have our heads down after that terrible performance in Dallas. It is true they have a lot of bright, young talent, but that talent hasn't been getting many wins for the Timberwolves. They will have home advantage, so that could be key. But I'm just glad our team finally got a couple days of rest, we've been deserving of it for a while. I think the tough schedule has effected our whole team, especially rookie Jimme Fredette. Since we've gotten a rest, I expct the Kings to put up a good fight against Minnesota.

                  • SAC 86 MIN 99

The Sacramento Kings losing to an undermanned Minnesota Timberwolves squad. The game was close all the way late to the third quarter. Late in the third, Minnesota were pulling away with a two digit lead.

In the final two minutes, the Kings managed to narrow down the lead to seven, but a series of quick points made Minnesota pull away for good.

Tyreke Evans struggled with his shot but finished with 9 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Evans incurred five turnovers.

THE FIRST task upon getting home was to grab my 1,470-page thick basketball book and look up his statistics.  I had just attended the Junior NBA Coaching Clinic presented by Alaska Milk at the…

                        • As of the moment, the Sacramento Kings have three players in the 2008 Draft that are eligible for extension.

Jason Thompson - 12th overall pick (SAC)

JJ Hickson - 19th overall pick (CLE)

Donte Greene - 28th pick overall, traded to SAC

From what is reported, the Kings will not offer an extension sheet to Jason Thompson. While Donte Greene and JJ Hickson's status are still under negotiations.

                          • I can't believe we don't want to extend Jason Thompson's contract. I really believe he has proved to be a great bench player and a nice spark off the bench. Oh well, at least we're going to try and extend J.J. Hickson and Donte Greene.... As of late, our shots haven't been falling and that will have to change we we play the San Antonio Spurs. They're an older team, more experienced but yet with less energy so we have got to take advantage of that aspect.

I am also disappointed with this development, but I do see the front office's hesitation on not offering an extension sheet. Thompson has been struggling as of late as his points and rebounds numbers are way below his average. Thompson's current stats are even lower from last year where he was also coming off the bench.

Since Thompson is the only center we got after Cousins, he seems to be safe from being traded. If Thompson will show improvement and get out of his slump, then he can re-sign with the Kings in the off-season; that is if the Kings want him back.

If you ask me, I want him for long term.

                              • According to a league wide GM Survey, Marcus Thornton was picked as the player with a most likely breakout season.

Thornton has been struggling with his offensive game as of late. Perhaps bothered by his bruised hip. What me and others are hoping is that he regains his offensive flow. His scoring from the end of the season was much needed as he and Evans towed the team to a stretch of .500 (7-7).

The Kings are dependent on how Evans and Thornton will produce.
