  • Last night, the Sacramento Kings dropped a home game against the visiting San Antonio Spurs 108 -102. The Kings were struggling in the first half as the team's percentage dropped to 32% at one point. While the Spurs got off to a hot start on the road, shredding our defense with Tony Parker leading the blitz.

Spurs held off a potential Kings rally with efficient scoring. Isaiah Thomas scored 22 points while Tyreke Evans added 20 points. Marcus Thornton off the bench with 16 points.

The Kings are off to a five game road trip next as the Kings are currently 5-23 on the road this season.

    • The Sacramento Kings have agreed to send Thomas Robinson, Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt to the Houston Rockets for Toney Douglas, Cole Aldrich and Patrick Patterson,

I am delighted with this trade as Aldrich can contribute with defense and Patterson fills in our power forward needs. While Toney Douglas at the moment contributes to our logjam in the point guard spot in Thomas, Fredette and Brooks.

There are reports that the Kings are shopping Brooks. Celtics it seems are interested.

While I am sad to see Cisco and Robinson go. Robinson has yet to start for the Kings and maybe in Houston, he will enjoy success. While for Garcia, there goes the last member of our 2005-06 Playoff team. Tyler Honeycutt could be waived in the next 48 hours. Kings did not see much improvement from him since being drafted from UCLA.

Next game, the Kings will be in the nest of the Atlanta Hawks. Kings will only suit up eight players tonight due to the trade that transpired last night and Aaron Brooks is questionable for the game.

Just told Tyreke Evans won't be dealt today by person familiar with the situation. Kings leave for ATL in about 90 minutes

          • Currently we have five ex-Houston Rockets players in Hayes and Brooks aside from the three we recently acquired.

Head coach Keith Smart would not comment on the departure of Thomas Robinson, Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt. Smart did acknowledge the acquisition of Cole Adrich, Patrick Patterson and Toney Douglas.

Smart said that Aldrich will play center while Patterson is expected to sub for Jason Thompson. Smart also hinted that Douglas could play either PG or SG under his utilization.

            Current roster / depth chart:

            Cousins / Hayes / Aldrich
            Thompson / Patterson
            Salmons / Johnson ? Outlaw
            Evans / Thornton
            Thomas / Fredette / Brooks / Douglas

14 players while Brooks is still out. Since Smart's substitution pattern is all about gambit based match-ups and riding who's hot, expect either Hayes or Aldrich to come off the bench with minutes. In some nights, Smart will not utilize that player and prefer the other. As for Fredette, Smart wants him to be more of a catch and shoot player so Fredette is seeing time as a shooting guard. That trend could remain.

Our back-court are volume shooters to say the least. I am liking the acquisition of Patterson; a very efficient player of the utility kind. He will give us the points, rebounds, assists and hustle blocks & steals as a power forward. Similar to what Carl Landry used to bring us two seasons ago.

            • Sacramento falling to the Atlanta Hawks on the road 122-108. Defense once again faltering as the Hawks owned the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter.

Isaiah Thomas lead the team with 30 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds. Demarcus Cousins had a double double of 26 points and 13 rebounds. Tyreke Evans finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

Jason Thompson with almost a double double of 9 points and 10 rebounds.

                • The Kings dropping their game against the New Orleans Hornets last night 110-95. In a game where the Kings shot better at the three point distance at 63% compared to 42% in the confines of the arc. When the Hornets went on a 8-0 run to push the score 88-83 by the 7 minute mark of the final quarter, the Kings just quit on the defense and instead exchanged baskets.

The back-court of Thomas and Evans combined to shoot at only 10-30 while Demarcus Cousins lead the team with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Newcomer Patrick Patterson had 2 points in 2 minutes of action.

                  • Tonight we will play the reigning NBA champions the Miami HEAT. Miami has won 11 games in a row and are red hot compared to the ice cold Sacramento. The last time around, HEAT won a lopsided game at home as Mario Chalmers and Isaiah Thomas played H-O-R-S-E with each scoring 34 points.

This time, Kings are on the road and its already penciled as an L.

                    • Sacramento Kings 129 Miami HEAT 141 2OT

Whirlwind of a game where the defending champions did not even play defense and instead played a run and gun offense. We gave them a scare right before the end of the regulation towards the first overtime. When the second overtime arrived, HEAT just outmuscled us as LeBron James and Dwyane Wade showed how great they are in closing games.

Demarcus Cousins finished with a double double of 24 points and 15 rebounds. Tyreke Evans with 26 points while Marcus Thornton with 36 points off the bench.

Next game is against the Orlando Magic. We are avoiding an 11 straight road losing streak while we are in a six game losing streak.

Fatigue could be a factor for tonight and the rest of the Kings players need to play better.

                      • The Sacramento Kings picking up a rare road win tonight against the Orlando Magic 125-101. John Salmons scored a tea high 21 points while Tyreke Evans managed 17 points and 7 assists.

Plenty of bench play in this one as Marcus Thornton picked up his hot hand from the Miami game and had 20 points. Jimmer Fredette added 13 points while the newcomer, Patrick Patterson had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Toney Douglas finished with 8 points.

Kings were on fire from tip off to the buzzer.

                          • Before a passionate 3,000 crowd, Mayor Kevin Johnson has announced the plan to keep the Kings. Mark Mastrov, alongside 20 local investors will submit a bid for the franchise to the NBA board while Ron Burkle will lead the efforts to build a downtown arena.

For my part, since Keep the Kings In SacTown is running low in funds and can no longer allocate a Pay Per Click Promotion campaign budget, I will be allocating $2,000 from my own wallet to fund and run the campaign myself.

                              • The Sacramento Kings and point guard Aaron Brooks have parted ways as Brooks was just released.

It is lamentable that we could not get the best of Brooks and he was not able to recover his former Most Improved Player form. When he signed with the Kings, Smart envisioned him as a microwave kind of player where he would provide instant points. Brooks' short stay with the Kings was up and down. He played well when Isaiah Thomas was struggling to begin the season and seems to play alongside Tyreke Evans where Evans can find him for a threaded pass that showcased Brooks' shooting ability.

But when Thomas gained his form and was playing in confidence, it is Brooks who floundered as he has seen his minutes cut down and therein, his confidence. The acquisition of Toney Douglas in the trade deadline ushered in his replacement.
