  • Rasheed Wallace set to retire

David Aldridge confirmed this on ESPN radio and Doc Rivers said that prior to Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Rasheed Wallace talked of this being his last game, win or lose. He leaves behind $12 Million of guaranteed money.

Thanks for the memories Rasheed "Sheed" Wallace. Watched you in Portland alongside Scottie Pippen during the early 2k decade. You were the missing piece on the Detroit Pistons 2004 Squad that won it all. Certainly, you played a big part of the Celtic surge this year.

Will miss your bold statements on winning called "Guaran-SHEED".

One of the craziest NBA players but somehow managed to be likable (OK maybe not to Sabonis fans). I also think he is greatly underrated as a player.

One of my favorite players in the league, granted a ton of wasted potential, and he could infuriate you with his three point shooting. But dude was funny, could play lock down d, and always had a quote.

        "Both teams played hard"

        "Ball don't lie"

He should totally get into commentary

Don't rule out a retirement yet...

                  Rasheed having second thoughts?

With Doc Rivers deciding to return to the Celtics next season, and Boston close to re-signing Paul Pierce to a four-year deal, Danny Ainge said Saturday night that there is a "possibility" that veteran forward Rasheed Wallace could re-think his decision last month to retire after 15 NBA seasons. The Celtics believed Wallace would retire after the team's seven-game Finals loss to the Lakers, and he appeared to make the decision final a week or so later.

Because Wallace had two years and $13 million (including $6.32 million next season) remaining on his deal when he retired, the Celtics have been looking into moving his contract to another team, which would then get the savings from Wallace's cap number, in exchange for assets. But obviously, if Wallace decides to play next season, that team wouldn't get the money off of its cap.Rivers decided to return for the last year of his contract last week, after his family members encouraged him to come back and give it one more try with his veteran team next year. That was followed by Pierce quickly getting close to a four-year contract worth more than $60 million with Boston.
Rasheed Wallace: Hmmm... then again that's still money, and perhaps my last paycheck of my career.

This guy should have had a better career. He fell in love with the 3 point shot too much.
