The trade of Gerald Wallace to the Portland Trailblazers has to be merited as a move by the franchise and with the approval of Michael Jordan for longer sustainability of the franchise's fiscal health as well as flexibility for midterm to long-term operations.
The Bobcats received the expiring contract of Joel Prybilla, a young forward in Dante Cunningham as well as two future first round draft picks. Pryzbilla's contract termination via buyout or expiration after the off-season is a salary cap relief while Cunningham gives the Bobcats another young prospect, perhaps to build on and two draft picks for the future could have the Bobcats land a good player in the near future.
Sadly to say, the organization felt that the Bobcats are not a contender on the Eastern Conference and their shot of the post-season is just on the eighth seed or seventh seed at best where the East too has become more competitive with the recent trades of New Jersey and New York.
Overall, the Bobcats have taken a full step back and have addressed issues for the midterm and long-term. Not really relinquishing the season as a lost, but the Bobcats have begun making plans for the future, similar to what the Celtics have done recently.

Hold the Mayo
The Memphis-Indiana trade for OJ Mayo and Josh McRoberts was sent in too late for league approval and therefore, did not go through.

Memphis Grizzlies talk to Houston Rockets about Shane Battier
Thabeet included; deal hinges on Memphis giving up first-round pick
MINNEAPOLIS — The Grizzlies had serious discussions Wednesday with the Houston Rockets regarding a proposed deal that would swap second-year center Hasheem Thabeet for forward Shane Battier.
A deal would hinge on Memphis’ willingness to also include a future first-round draft pick in its bid to reunite with Battier. The Griz failed in their initial attempt to acquire Battier earlier this year and may try to enlist a third team to avoid sending the Rockets a pick.
Battier, who was Memphis’ first draft pick in 2001, played five seasons for the Griz, averaging 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds. He was traded to the Rockets in July 2006 in the deal that brought Rudy Gay to the Grizzlies.
Memphis’ 2011 first-round selection — albeit lottery protected — is already owed to the Utah Jazz as compensation in a trade for Ronnie Brewer last season.
Griz general manager Chris Wallace wouldn’t confirm nor deny specific trade talks. However, he said the organization doesn’t feel any pressure to make a deal.
“We’re active,” Wallace said. “We’re trolling around. Maybe it leads to something, maybe it won’t. It’s tough to put a percentage on whether we’re doing a deal. Right now, I’d say it’s about 50-50.”
Indications are the Griz are more likely to consummate a minor transaction, if any, mainly as a result of fruitless discussions with numerous teams. It is believed that Thabeet remains the biggest candidate to be moved.
Memphis, however, has not entertained trade offers for Zach Randolph. The Griz believe they can agree to a contract extension with Randolph before he becomes a free agent this summer.
There was no shortage of suitors for guard O.J. Mayo. But team owner Michael Heisley is said to have declined every potential trade, believing the Griz wouldn’t receive fair value in return.
Among the potential deals that didn’t get serious include: a Mayo-for-Kyle Korver deal with Chicago and a Mayo-for-Anthony Morrow swap with New Jersey.
While the Griz have aggressively shopped Thabeet, they don’t appear willing to do a deal just to dump players or salary.
