Minnnesota just signed Nikola Pekovic. 3 years 14 million total. He'll have a chance to start if they end up sign-and-trading Al Jefferson.

Phil Jackson opted for one more year with the LA Lakers and a chance to secure a fourth three-peat.

It is also reported that the Hawks have offered Joe Johnson a Max contract worth $127 Million for a span of five years. Hawks said that Joe Johnson is close to coming into terms.

While the Bucks have offered a 5 year $39 Million contract to John Salmons.

Suns sign Hakim Warrick: 4 yrs $18 million.

Steve Blake's signing signifies that Jordan Farmar may not return on a Laker's uniform next season.

John Salmons and the Milwaukee Bucks have reached a deal worth $40 Million on a span of 4 years.

Mavericks expressed interest in re-signing Brendan Haywood and both camps are working on a deal.

                I guess it was expected.

I think that's a pretty bad deal for the Hawks. Johnson is good, but I really think it's an exaggeration to give him a max contract.
While the Bucks have offered a 5 year $39 Million contract to John Salmons.
That's worth it. Salmons was a great addition for Milwaukee. I think he's a very smart, very efficient player.

I guess we were expecting something like that.
Suns sign Hakim Warrick: 4 yrs $18 million.
I'm kind of surprised about that. He's not exactly a starting PF, in my opinion. Although, looking at his stats, he seems pretty efficient in only 20 minutes per game: 10 points, 5 rebounds.
Amare Stoudemire is close to finalizing a max contract with the Knicks.
Like Johnson, I don't really think Stoudemire is a max player. He's good, but everybody knows that he's a bad defender...does New York really want to bring in another big man who can't defend? I guess that would be consistent with their plan since they lost Larry Johnson.
Lakers sign Steve Blake for 4 years.
Depending on the money, this might be a great deal. Blake is underrated. He might be able start in front of Fisher if Fisher doesn't walk away (Fisher is a rat...the guy left Utah feigning retirement and signed again with LA like lightening).
Bucks agree to terms with Drew Gooden: 5 yrs $32 million, keep Carlos Delfino.
I guess that's pretty good. Keeping Delfino is great. He's a super-skilled player, kind of a light version of the dominant SFs in the league. Gooden, 5 years for $32 million? That seems about right. They'll be able to start Gooden and Bogut, with Mbouh a Moute and Ilyasova coming off the bench.
Darko Milicic staying in the NBA and Minnesota 4 yrs $20 million.
That seems about right, too, although I'm surprised he couldn't get a better deal in Europe.
Rudy Gay accepts maximum contract from Grizzlies.
A max contract for Rudy Gay? I would put him in Joe Johnson category. Good player, but he has a lot to prove.

Yes, teams do over-spend on player at times. I think Wade, James and Nowitzki are the only FA's that are worth that money.

Rudy Gay is good and young, but his defense is still in question.

Joe Johnson is not really a franchise player, that will bring you to the promised land. Instead he is better off as a second option.

I wouldn't be paying Stoudemire max money for a bigman who has NEVER averaged double figures in rebounding through-out a season.

In the end, it's not my money anyway.

Not that happy... I hope I'll be proven wrong, but I get the feeling he'll never win a championship

Of this year's free agents, yes. Those are the three I would give max, max, max money to.

I don't know. Clearly, Dallas had their chance in the Finals a few years ago. They've had some great players rotating in and out, but nobody for a long time...Mark Cuban never should have let Steve Nash walk.

Actually, Mark Cuban and the Mavericks Organization tried the best they could to keep him via a 4-year extension but the Suns' offer of more amount and a young and vibrant cast of Stoudemire, Joe Johnson and Shawn Marion was too hard to pass up.

I don't remember it very well, but I thought that Cuban didn't even want to make a counter offer to Phoenix.

Wow...could you imagine Rondo and Barbosa together? That would be pretty exciting. As a playmaker, Rondo is similar to Steve Nash, so it would definitely be a fun combination to watch. Fernández would be a great addition to any team. If Boston loses Ray Allen, he'll be a great replacement. He'd also be a great player off the bench.

Boston is finally going to bring in Semih Erden from Turkey, who they drafted two or three years ago.

The Mavericks couldn't match the amount that the Suns had offered to Steve Nash because they were loaded in the cap space with Antawn Jamison, Antoine Walker, Danny Fortson and Erick Dampier.

Anyways, looking at the Suns roster at this early, I'm beginning to think that Nash is nowhere closer to winning a title as compared to a month ago.
