This could be a good deal for all teams, except I doubt that Larry Brown will play Jose Calderon. The only player born outside the US that Brown gave minutes to was Todd McCoullough. Calderon could suffer the same fate as so many good players under Larry Brown, a coach who chooses players based on their personalities and not their talent.

Considering Phoenix just brought in Hakkim Warrick, I'm kind of surprised that they brought in Turkoglu, but I think they're very different players. But, Phoenix also brought in Josh Childress, who plays the same position as Grant Hill and Jason Richardson. But, Childress is a great player. I like the way Phoenix looks right now. I'm still not a huge Robin Lobez fan, but he's improved.

Meanwhile, Toronto blew their team up. Bosh, Calderon, and Turkoglu are gone. They get three very exciting players in Barbosa, Diaw, and Chandler. A lot of people (like me) are down on Diaw. He was not great in Charlotte, although he was statistically significant. Was that because of Brown? Hmm. I still Tyson Chandler a lot. Yeah, he's soft, but I like his game for some reason (when he's healthy). Toronto looks like they'll be OK after losing their big three from last year. If they had a center, I'd put them in the "definite" play-off category. Without a center (Bargnani doesn't count and Rasho is a FA I think), they'll be fighting for the 8th spot.

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas

                  • Zydrunas Ilgauskas is following LeBron James to the Miami Heat.
The veteran center, who started playing for Cleveland in 1997 and has never suited up for another NBA team, expects to sign a two-year contract for $2.8 million with the Heat later this week, agent Herb Rudoy said Tuesday. The two-year deal would come with a player option for the second season, Rudoy said.
``We've agreed to agree,'' Rudoy said.
The Heat had no immediate comment. They had talks about acquiring Ilgauskas when he was available this past season after being dealt in a three-team trade to Washington. The Wizards subsequently bought out his contract and made him a free agent.
Ilgauskas is the Cavs' career leader in games played, blocked shots and rebounds. The 7-foot-3 Lithuanian was drafted by the club in 1996 and overcame serious foot injuries that nearly ended his career.
He's just the latest name to join what shapes up as a serious title contender in Miami, joining not only James but Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, who agreed to a deal late last week that remains unsigned.
"I don't think if LeBron weren't there, this would be happening." Rudoy said. "His best chance to win a championship would be in Miami,''
Ilgauskas told Cavs owner Dan Gilbert and general manager Chris Grant the news on Tuesday. James played a role in luring Ilgauskas to Miami, and other teams were interested as well.
Ilgauskas was immensely popular in Cleveland, and expects to keep a home in the city.
``It's hard,'' Rudoy said. ``It's been 14 years. It was very hard for him. I know that. When he called Chris Grant and Dan Gilbert today, it was definitely a hard decision at this stage of his career. But he wants to win a championship. That's how he made this decision.''
Playing as a reserve for the first time, Ilgauskas averaged 7.4 points and 5.4 rebounds last season. For his career, Ilgauskas has averaged 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, plus has played in two All-Star
TNT Analyst David Aldridge contributed to this story.

                    • The Knicks will finalize Timofey Mozgov's contract so soon and are trying to get rid of Wilson Chandler and Eddy Curry!!
I believe Chandler had a great season for the Knicks last year and could really help the team at least of the bench.

                              • I have to say that the Miami Heat are starting to look very dangerous. Mike Miller and Zydrunas Ilgauskas are the type of players they really needed to put with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. They still need a PG, but look at this line-up now:

                                PG _______, Chalmers
                                SG Wade, Miller
                                SF LeBron, Miller
                                PF Bosh, Haslem
                                C Ilgauskas, Haslem, Anthony

That's pretty stacked. Ilgauskas lets Bosh move to the PF spot, where he'll be better because Bosh can't defend anybody who has ever lifted weights. Miller could start for most teams, but he'll be coming off the bench and he's completely underrated.

                                Wow.
