Michigan State v Kentucky held the indoor record.
You are my favourite American in here, I like you because you speak wisely.

The attendance was 80.000... not 120.000... the 40.000 outside did not count obviously, something which can not be said about your beloved NBA as we saw in another thread (giving 18X the real attendance in Nets game, no need to revisit this subject).

Yes, Michigan-Kentucky did hold the previous record for indoor, but the opening article of this thread did not suggest that, on the opposite. That is why I was quick to correct it. Just read and see my point:

See? No mention of 'indoor game' whatsoever. Unless AEK and Slavia did not play a basketball game in that evening of 1968 in Athens, Attica. But I strongly believe they did, after all it was a European Cup Final and it was the first ever international title a Greek basketball club won.

And yes, the lame All Star Game beat that record, no objections there, at all. I am in fact envy and wish people showed that much interest in basketball here.

But I wouldn't clinch to this record for much if I was you as Spain is planning to host the World Championship Final (in case they get it) in Camp Nou.

Yeah as if he is better. By the way, I love your avatar. But be careful, some mod here might find it 'offensive'. Or not. Duran't dick is for some reason offensive for him but Leonidas' duck is not. I guess it all comes down to personal preferences.

By the way, there were 120.000+ people there to confirm it.
First off, had you read my sentence carefully, I dropped the conditional "other organizations," so I wasn't just referring to Guinness; any "official" non-partizan organization would do. The NBA didn't do the tally. The administrators at Cowboy Stadium are in charge of scanning and keeping track of the tickets that come through the gate, and organizations like Guinness get the information and confirm the record. Yeah, I know...such facits of how things work are of little interest to you as long as you make your point, right?

Anyways, it's a moot point. As my esteemed fellow American pointed out, the record applied to indoor gatherings, and the NBA All-star game broke both indoor and outdoor records, so it's a non-issue either way.

Blame the media for not cross-checking its facts, but most people who've watched basketball over the last...say 60 years...have come to expect a basketball game to be played INDOORS...so logically, people are going to refer to indoor records, not some flukey outdoor record that went unconfirmed back in 1968. If your pride was hurt because DT didn't mention an obscure outdoor record then that's awfully damn petty.

But I wouldn't clinch to this record for much if I was you as Spain is planning to host the World Championship Final (in case they get it) in Camp Nou.
Are you serious? This stadium only seats 99,000, and at full capacity can only legally hold 106,100, that's still 2,000 short of the record. Unless a basketball event is held in Mexico's Azteca Stadium, which seats 110,000+, this record is going to stand for a while. And besides, even if they put a humongous tarp over the top of the stadium, FIBA isn't going to sanction an official basketball game at a venue which exposes players, fans and its officials to potential weather hazards.

Damn it, I hate when people are so desparate to win arguments that they conveniently forget facts.
