    Germany and France will have played each other four times this summer after Thursday. We lost to them badly in the first friendly of the summer without the Wagners, Theis and Thiemann. But we have never lost to them with Franz Wagner on the floor (including Eurobasket 2022). But now I am worried that Collet finally understood that Gobert and Strazel are unplayable and that Fournier must come off the bench. It will be a tough game on Thursday.

      It depends on how much the refs favour the home team. If it's only like this last game against Canada, you should be good. If it's at Japan's game levels... good luck winning the bronze.

          This is the attitude Serbia needs to make this game at least competitive - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULmgsdODcbc

          Apart from that, we also need:

          - 15-20 threes on great FG%
          - Physical defense, not shying away from making hard fouls
          - Low turnover rate
          - Consistency with minimum empty minutes
          - Bogdan/Jokic having legendary type of games
          - Bogdan/Jokic playing 38-40 minutes

          Easy-peasy, right?

            @subway surfers,
            What adjustments should Germany make to counter France's potential strategy changes?

              That French recent number 1 draft pick (spelling?) is probably the biggest Fiba bust in years.

                        These guys who couldn't finish off Japan on their own are, at the very least, Silver medalists. It's obscene.

                          I guess one needs to be a fair loser and say that France wanted it more and played a great game with respect to the first meeting.
                          They came with the same gameplan of Greece. Make it ugly, physical and slow since you don't have the shooters to compete with Germany. But they succeeded because they had a little more talent than the Greeks. Great comeback in the last four minutes by our team, but too little too late. Franz left on the bench the whole second quarter (I don't care if he had 2 fouls) was the only big mistake I see in Gordon Herbert's coaching. Maodo Lo could have been useful today since all our alleged shooters decided they were too afraid to shoot today. We overpassed all the time, ending up with a lot of desperation shots at the end of the 24'' seconds shotclock.

                            Germany had to close down passing lanes. They made too many decision mistakes and triggered many transition games of France. Germany should have won this game but good to see that Germany has several weaknesses. The big rotation is still missing something, a tall, strong big with solid fundamentals. Its not Theiss also not Thiemann or Voigtmann.

                              Right now I experience how huge disappointment in terms of basketball feels, it is not pretty. In the first half we lacked focus, in the second half confidence. Tonight I am a bit disappointed with Coach Herbert, as I could not figure out what the gameplan in offense was and I was desperately waiting for adjustments, but we kept the same one-versus-one basketball going over three quarters as Canada did. Same story, same result. I also the think the players were not executing as they normally do. They tried to make individual plays they are not capable of, but it was mainly the result of not having a solid plan how to punish the switching. Eventually we should have used the gravity and shooting ability of Obst earlier. Was is just me or did France win nearly every fifty-fifty-ball? I am still proud how the guys fought till the end, but it seems like a mission impossible to find something positive besides the fighting spirit right now. One good thing is, we have another chance to win a medal. It is not over.

                              Refs did a great job.
