  • Group B, Day 2: China vs. Russia

China with a respectable performance against Spain, but Russia picked apart GB with Kirilenko dominating. China needs to pull an upset somewhere if they want to go into the final game against GB with a shot at an upset.

Very physical game, it seems like there is no calls for a lot of contact that would be called in most games. I'm not complaining, just saying.

Russia is really big at every position, hard for China on the boards.

Yi J.L. nice block on Kirilenko dunk, but Russia running away. Hope it doesn't become a blowout.

A very low scoring game after the 1st... 20-12 Russia.

China can't seem to get off that three point shot off. Not sure how many they attempted (or made if any) but the Russians are playing excellent perimeter defense with excellent close out too... If China can't find their rhythm from beyond the arc this will be a definite blowout (25 points and up).

Also i can't understand the Russian commentator i am watching so i got no help there

China needs to start their offense early-- 4-5 seconds wasted at the back court, another 4-5 seconds setting up the play, by the time the play starts they have less than 10 seconds or so.

Easier said than done of course against this Russian squad.

30-18 now. Too bad leaving the PC now as i really wanted to watch Russia do their work. From what i see (and the first game) i think they are medal contenders.

This is a nightmare, it's like Philippines meeting China, you think you are quick, but then every defender is just as quick as you and 2-3 inches taller.

Yi J.L. finally gets something going, a big dunk right before half-time.

Not so bad for China. Only 61pts for Russia after 3 quarters despite tripling China's assists and doubling their rebounds.

Maybe Russia is saving their energy for better opponents.

Hey even I know who Kaun is, he looks nothing like Mozgov or Khryapa, stop confusing the players you dumb FIBA commentators, and stop dumb shit like "If China wants to win this they cannot do this or that" smartass it's a 25pt game

Chen Jianghua is the only one who could score, that's what I wanted, actually just forget about height, put Guo Ailun in the game to run please, the tall players can't defend the Russians anyway, might as well go small.

China has a few good players. #11 is a revelation! I hope he has a break out year in the NBA. He is so athletic and long!

                        China has good defense.

I'm impressed. China has forced Russia to 11 turnovers. They have only 12 themselves but Russia has converted on the Chinese turnovers. China's defense is impressive. If China would score on Russia's turnovers it would be a closer game.

Russia shooting very poorly from 3pt distance.

Sun Yue and Wang Zhizhi are disappointing today. Well Sun Yue has always been a disappointment for China against strong teams.
