Anything for an advantage eh? In America FIBA officials are viewed as very bad.

In the past US player have been given some slack in rules that are different over there. This was not so in the case of Panathinaikos, because the purpose was to smash the Euroleague champion, no matter what.

In Europe we laugh when you consider FIBA refs bad...

You know, I never used to like it when us europeans were ranting that much about referee tolerance towards the americans, since they come from a very different style of play. That all changed last year when I saw the treatment of Panathinaikos in the preparation games against Houston and San Antonio. I really think that the FIBA referees should hit them very hard now, in official matches but also in friendlies.

Your thinking is fascinating from a sport and physiological point of view. Can you please explain how you equate an exhibition game between teams from two professional leagues featuring players that are American and European (on both teams) with Olympic basketball? To me, they have nothing to do with each other. This should be good... and entertaining (if your response is good enough can I write my thesis on it?).

Did I say that they have anything to do with each other? And do they have to? I just expressed my opinion, that the referees shouldn't be too lenient on letting the americans travel as lot as they do. Is there a thesis to write on that?

If anything, even if you compare olympic basketball with a couple of friendlies, you would understand that the officiating in the olympic games should be much more harsher than the exhibition games, right?
