  • Cape Verde beat Lebanon

After winning in the first game the team of international African players, Cape Verde beat Lebanon 90-88. This must be a surprise for many people but not to me...they have a good group of players and i believe that in near future they will became a very strong team.

It´s sad that players like Evora, Betinho, C.Andrade and Ryan Gomes can't anymore play for Cape Verde because they wiil give mutch more power to this team.

Vogel is out for at least 3 months (Disc injury in his back).
Cape Verde has really good three point shooters and their players (as per what Daniab heard from his friend who lives in France) had a height advantage and outrebounded the Lebanese team by a large margin. I personally was disappointed from this loss and I was hoping that the Lebanese team could get at least a few wins from all these exhibition games.

Wow!!! No offense to my Lebanese friends, but this is great news to me. I´m always happy when a smaller basketball country knocks off a big one (just like Leb-France). It´s an amazing accomlishment, even with Vogel out.

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas

Cape Verde is a great team, especially lately. It's absolutely amazing that a group of tiny islands is able to produce such quality players.

You have to take into account that some of their players were produced in the Boston-New Bedford-Providence corridor as well...

                  Yo Leb-Basket!
Do u know which players got food poisoned? It is the responsibility of the Lebanese Federation to provide all the required needs for the national team and not to try to save money and provide them with crappy accomodation and food.
As for this team being the same from 2002, this is not true.
The only players that are available from the 2002 team are Vogel, Khatib, Fahed, and Roy Samaha (In 2002 we had Walid Domiati, Ghazi Boustani, Elie Mchantaf, Yasser El Hage, Paul Khoury, George Chibani, Charles Bardawil) .

Cape Verde is currently getting pounded by weak New Zealand.I feel sorry for the guys, the baskets arent falling for them today, but the selfishness of players like Houtman,Correia, and Xavier is killing them.Mascarenhas is the best player on the court and gets no balls in the post at all.
Penney and Cameron are doing great work for the Kiwis here.
Oliver is also okay for Cape Verde, who are really in a tough position once the game is done..
