Well Argentina is oficially done. Now they are practically playing with the same squad that got them 3rd place in Fiba Americas.

If Oberto and Argentina play shut down defense, they can still make 2nd in their group, maybe 1st if experience wins against Serbia, but I dont think they have a squad depth that can play hard for 8 games.

Brazil moves in as America's 2nd representative, but we will see how they fare without Nene.

didn't FIBA use a slogan "we care about basketball" or something like that a couple of years ago

Nocioni is absolutely devastated with this decision of the Philadelphia 76'ers. The player said he had no pain, but the medical staff from the NBA team advise him no to play, in order to overcome the injury in the ankle.
We have to understand the decision, they pay his salary and all the costs related to injuries, Nocioni has to respect.

Yeah, Nikkhah is very talented. He's got a lot of skills. So does Afagh, who I thought could play in the NBA a few years ago. This is really bad for Iran. This year could have been their best team in history.

Samad and Afagh (especially Samad) are very important for Iran, it is a catastrophe, especially just 5 days before the tournament ! I can't remember the last time we played without him (maybe 5 years ago !)

Iran had many problems this summer but the last problem was the worst !

Raúl López has played the last season with Scariolo. He knows the systems. He was in the team last year and knows everyone in the roster. The last time Sergio was in the NT was in 2006? and he hasn't played under FIBA rules since then. And López has been already training for 2 weeks, when nor Sergio, nor Cabezas or Sada have started the preseason.

    It's the best choice, IMO.
