  • Ricky Rubio vs. Milos Teodosic in WC

NBA and other specialists/scouts have, for years now, dubbed Ricky Rubio as Europe's brightest star in the PG position. The WC which just ended was the perfect place for Rubio to show this as he had a great season with Barca and was forced to play as Spain's main PG (seeing how Calderon was injured).

The result? Teodosic won the MVP of last season's Euroleague and was in the 5 best players of both the Eurobasket in Poland and the WC in Turkey which just finished.

Now who is the better player? I think that results speak for themselves. The only attributes where I believe that Ricky is better then Milos is in speed, defence and the energy he dispenses on court. Milos is frankly better in every other category such as passing, shooting, court vision, decision making etc etc etc.

    What do you guys think?

Rubio is still very young...he isn't good as everyone thought, but he's still good - do you know many guys who play high level basketball at this age?

Ricky had a bad tournament. Well even our pg Kalnietis was better then him, so Milos i guess would be my choice to.

Two very different players. So far Teodosic has poved things and Rubio is a prospect.
            So far, Teodosic.
I guess in years to come it will be furious rivalry between these two...

Rubio is 20 Teodosic is 23.

Teo had his breakout season and turnament last year, so Rubio still has 2 years to catch up to Miloš.

Atm Teodosic all the way, but we will see in 2 years. Rubio is getting better and better, even his shot doesn't look that horrible anymore. It is still not great but not as horrible though.

So far, Milos is the best PG in Europe.
He is the reason that Serbia came to the SF and only refs deny them to meet USA yesterday.

Ricky is the mirror. He is one of the main reasons that Spain was stinking all the way in the WC.

I can see Milos as the next Saras in the Europian BB, Ricky is more a media fiction then a NBA prospect.

I watched all the ACB final last year. Ricky was disaster, and player like Marcelinio made from him a circus.
                2022/2023:
                PG: Brown, D-BA, Ziv
                SG: Baldwin, Hollins
                SF: Hillard, Pnini, Menco
                PF: Martin, Colson, Cohen
                PF: Nebo, Poyters, Sorkin

PG witch don t have good % from the field-victim of spain marketing.I mean,he is good in defense...but,BB is not one way streat..on the other hand..Teodosic this year play very poor defense(last year he was good)...but still,he is monster 4 Ricky.

                    Teodosic is a scoring PG
                    Rubio is a pass-first PG

                    Really different type.

But agreed, today, I'd pick Teodosic instead of Rubio (and try to give him a slap or two to start behaving well )

Teodosic once again proved that he is a leader in the senior competition. And most likely "the leader", in the highest level, especially when he has the players to take advantage of his out-of-this-planet passing. His shooting is amazing. His clutch also, top notch

Ricky excels in defense, he is very smart and witty there. He is also an excellent player to change the team's rhythm. I think that the main reason that he didn't do well in one more senior national competition of the highest level is the fact that he couldn't complement someone (like Calderon, as in 2009) or at worse, be complemented by someone (it happened with Sada and Lakovic in Barca and Ricky was indeed extremely important in Pascual's team ball). He is not a worse passer than Teodosic and, above that, he is more modern as a player. Teodosic is definitely more productive, but more of an old-school, shooting PG
Sexuality when one reaches their 30s is either mainstream or sick, but no matter what, it isn't pure

Teodosic of course, if he continue to play like this and develop even more, he could be a next Euro legend like Jasikevicius or Bodiroga. He is a euro type wizard, not a NBA type of player.

Rubio just don't have enough offensive potential to ever become a true legend, and he has maybe 0.1% chance to develop it in a future, although he will be great player. Rubio I can see in the NBA as a back-up PG. I don't expect for him to be a true leader on the court and I think he is over hyped by Spanish press.
That he is young, means a little because his bad sides are hardly to repair. For example, look Macvan, he absolutely dominated every junior competition, being even younger age, he is a one of the smartest basketball players on court, but he lacks maybe 5cm for a chance to became a unbelievable player, so he could/will be great, but never a legend. Same goes to Rubio offensive potential.

About Teodosic, he was chosen for first PG of this championship, he is extremely good offensive player, but he shoot only 5 free throws for a whole championship , so well done refs.
