Umm no..we can nitpick a lot. Actually our D is horrible and the holes are being exposed more as this tourny moves along. Again, let's assume our next games involve great outside shooting and larger men in the middle, we are in for a loss. Watching Angolans get second chances is sickening to me. We should be up by 50+ points right now.
Did you check the score 121-66? 55 points! USA knows they can beat Angola why beat a dead horse? A lot of the young players have been in knock-out stages many times in the NCAA, one loss and you're gone. USA will be playing better and bring their "A" game to a higher level going into the finals. You can nitpick all you want, win or lose, I'm routing for my team!
Now that game is on the top of my list for the 'most boring game of the tournament'. But I know, these games have to be played..
Suppose there were few good slams from USA... but altogether a lacklustre performance ... despite nailing the highest score of the tournament... Angola vs USA pictures
The USA was pretty good tonight, but Angola was perfectly set up for us Americans. Honestly, the USA could have named their score with the style of play and personnel for the Angolans. I'm still a little concerned with the defensive communication and organization for the USA, plus I can see a good defensive team getting us bogged down in the half court offense. Neither Russia, not New Zealand have the ability to really take down the USA, but a team like Turkey or Spain could in the Finals. Brazil might challenge us, but I think they played about as well as they could the one time and missed their opportunity, while a team like Argentina will need more than Scola to beat the USA.
In my opinion, the final is setting up to be a Turkey-USA match up and that could be where the USA gets beaten, although I think it would be about a 25% chance for the Turks. It would be quite a scene for that final to happen, though.
Quickness, speed, accurate 3 points, and pressure defense. They beat two Euro teams (Croatia & Slovenia) in the Prelims by huge points.
As flawed as this US team is, I don't think the US-haters realize just how difficult it is to defend and score against a team that is quicker, more athletic, defensively more aggressive, and controls the glass the way the US does against its opponents. Of course the US can be defeated, but people on this forum think it's a simple formula that any sound team can concoct when in reality it's never that easy. Is it any wonder the US has only lost once in four years?
Team Angola played against much stronger US team on Beijing olympics and lost by 21 point.
So all those 50-60-70 point US wins from this thread are stupidity at it's best.
I just hope Cipriano will play the game, he is real fun to watch.
Besides, four eightfinal games were played and all pre game favorites won their games.
It's time for the underdog to finally win one.
Please!! Eric Gordon and Derick Rose are mediocre shooters, they are nailing it because there is no defense from Angola. US won't keep this percentages vs. Euro Teams.
It is real easy for you to forget the Croatia & Slovenia games against USA in the prelims. The other Euro teams haven't fair any better in this WC.

I wouldn't want to be one of the dozen or so American supporters in the stands if the US wins over Turkey!
"Most likely"? Most likely the European teams, as well as most any other country, will have trouble with the speed, defense and skill of the USA. I love how simple you all think it is for you to beat the USA, yet so rarely do it.
Speed is only a problem if you play fast and don't possess a half court offense. Greece, without Bourousis, Fotsis, and Schortsanitis, played to USA's strength. Croatia had a struggle with USA due to non-inside game and quick shooting. Slovenia was the same, especially with Dragic in foul trouble It was only until Brazil, with Splitter and Huertas, did USA have trouble. It's no secret that with a good big man (men) and a good point guard, a team can be effective against USA team. But how often have we've seen these two qualities this WC or pre WC? Only Spain and Brazil who both had opportunities to beat USA.
