How will the upcoming schedule affect the teams? Teams have differences in the days sandwiched inbetween match days.
For example the teams finishing 1st in Group A, 4th in Group B, 2nd in Group D and 3rd in Group C are all playing on Saturday and then again - should they follow through - on Wednesday. So we have 1 restday followed by 3 restdays (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday).
Teams finishing 1st in Group C, 4th in Group D, 2nd in Group B and 3rd in Group A play on Sunday and then again on Wednesday. That is 2 restdays followed by 2 restdays.
Teams finishing 1st in Group B, 4th in Group A, 2nd in Group C and 3rd in Group D cross their swords on Monday and then again on Thursday. That means 3 restdays followed by 2 restdays.
Finally teams finishing 1st in Group D, 4th in Group C, 2nd in Group A and 3rd in Group B matchup on Tuesday and then on Thursday. That equals 4 restdays followed by 1 restday.
Now, there are enormous differences between playing in the first group and the last group - regardless who opponent you are facing. A team that hasn't gotten any rhythm may choose to go/drop to a group that offers a lot of restdays before the first match. On the other hand a team being in the rhythm might lose it, waiting for the match to come. Then again a team that is hurdled by injuries could decide that a latter group might be more convenient, thus allowing time for recovery for its players. Do you see any implications for some teams as some are still in the position to affect in which group to fall?
