I just think with Nowitzki the German team would rely on him too much. I think that's bad for the team as a whole because offense becomes one dimensional and predictable. There are times when Nowitzki has big game, but other players are nowhere to be found. How many teams will be successful with this approach?

Right now, I like what I see from this young German team. There's a lot of experience and confidence being gained. But I doubt it would be attainable with Nowitzki playing.

    Cool clip...

    Congrats to Germany!

Bauermann, Jagla & Green did their thing...

When Jagla scored that 3pt shot, I felt like he stabbed me in the eye...

Tepic is my favourite player, so I'm biased, but I think he's gonna be ok, and I respect the decision that Tepic should take the last shot...

man, those calls by the refs were ridicolous
    1. Congrats to Germany. A well deserved win.
    2. This game was about us, we did nothing and that's why Germany won.
    * we were poor on D and O
    * we had terrible %'s
    * our creativeness was zero
    * Germany played smart and we were too stupid to figure one play that we should've
    * Tepić (a player that people will soon talk about as only a great talent)
    * if we were in the game, even without the two missing players, we would be talking about Serbia's expected win
    3. A bunch of funny players. Who are willing to put up a fight, I'll give them that. We have a term for those kind of players - indijanci (whatever they do, they didn't do because they can do it, but because it happened to them). I look at them and think 'what do these people really do for living?', 'cause if it's basketball, their families are gonna be hungry in ten years. Germany's going to do ok until the bombing and luck run out. I'm guessing a crazy, unpredictable team like Lithuania, Russia or PRico is going to be the end of them. An ugly end.
    4. This loss is gonna wake us up.
    5. What f*cking calls?!? I was pissed at the refs too, so I guess it's a matter of the eye of the beholder.

Don't get me wrong Stojakovic has been my idol since I was a kid but I have no respect for him recently when it comes to NT. Not to mention Ivkovic traveled all the way to America to have a sit-down with him and talk to him about the NT and he couldn't give a rats ass.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Peja has not played for the NT since 2003? That is not recent and he has spent his best sporting years (from age 26 to 30) avoiding the NT.

Dirk on the other hand has only missed the last 2 years of NT service but will be there for the next couple of tournaments. These two years he has missed the Germans will spend building a new team and then when Dirk returns they will be ready to challenge for medals again. That's a big difference.

just watched the replay game earlier!!

a well deserved win for Germany!! they are the underdogs IMO coming to this match and they lead almost throughout... Gotta love the winning shot by Jaglas(?) haha.. almost out of bounds shot from beyond the arc..that was great!! His game reminds me of his fellow countryman, Nowitzki

-For Serbia a superb game by Kosta Perovic

Well, it's just my personal opinion that Bjelica can add more value than KeŔelj. Better defensive player, rebounder, can play on several positions and very good ball handler for such tall person. Offensively, KeŔelj(a pure SF) can shoot really good, but Bjelica is not much worse than him for that matter. Last night they all performed very bad, KeŔelj somewhat with better performance, but... It's hard to tell by looking at only one match.
As I said, I think that overall Bjelica is much suitable choice. (TBH, his form is not that good ATM, but I believe in his talent more)

Anyway, Raduljica is the problem here, not those two... His absence was a very low blow for our game against Germany and their strong and tall inside players. Veličković and Mačvan struggled to make a free space and Perović obviously can't play the hole game. We simply needed one more C.

We lost the battle under the basket today, but I'm sure with presence of one more dominant big guy we could pressure them to doubleteam more and thus create more space. Blaming Tepić is easiest thing to do, but too many things didn't function this evening. Hopefully, returning of Krstić and Teodosić will give us more options in offense.

BTW, congrats to Germany, they surely know how to fight!

    Uros Tripkovic
    (Serbia & Montenegro; SG; 1986; 6'5; 30.6 mpg, 13.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2.3 topg)

Tripkovic was perhaps the most elegant player at Zaragoza. In every situation on the court, no matter how difficult a play might look, he seems balanced. But beyond style, Uros is a very complete shooting guard. Another inch wouldn't hurt with his 6'5 size (maybe 6'6 in shoes), but he possesses fine athleticism, showing quickness and great leaping ability.

The most obvious skill he demonstrates is his picture perfect jumper. It is a pleasure for the eyes. Like Belinelli, he can make it static, coming off the dribble, or off a screen to catch and shoot. When he's in motion, he has the body control to use his horizontal momentum to create a marvelous vertical jump shot in one fluid movement. He is completely balanced in the air when he releases his shot, generally from very high point. All this is executed very quickly, and it gives Uros the tremendous advantage to take any shot comfortably. In Zaragoza, he was streaky, hitting only 32.6% from behind the arc, but with his mechanics I'm sure he will become a most reliable gunner in the future.

His skills are not limited to shooting. Tripkovic has some aptitude to play point guard as well, including a great handle and nice court vision. He is especially good at driving and dishing. With his quickness, first step, and dribbling ability, he penetrates with ease. He works very well without the ball, always cutting to find open looks. On defense he benefits from his strong lower body, although he was no stopper at the tournament. But he has the tools, to be sure.

Uros is a very nice prospect with a chance at the NBA. Consistency on his shot and defense are needed areas of improvement, but I think he will become a very good shooting guard. You can't rule out him playing point guard, either, but he looked to me like a full-time off guard. If Zaragoza was any indication, he seems comfortable at the two. It was not so easy to tell considering how difficult it was for the Serbian players to shine individually on a team so obsessed with systems and team

This is the scouting report for Tripkovic 7 years ago before he became full time member for the Partizan senior team. It's the same Tripkovic that I used to see on the tapes from the various youth competitions. I remember story's about NBA scouts secretly coming to Serbia for his practices they even compared him to some of the NBA greats. Sadly he had to play for Vujosevic in the system in which whenever you make any small mistake or do some flashy move you get verbally abuse and they send you to the bench. Under Vujosevic he became one dimensional player . Imagine if Rubio or Teodosic somehow ended up in Vujusevic team On the other hand Teodosic has received a lot of freedom to create in FMP and he become what he is today. Teodosic had some great games even before EC in Poland, Ivkovic gave him his freedom back playing for the NT he just continued to showcase his skills further, it is not like Ivkovic innovate Teodosic all over again he had that talent and skills under Gershon as well.

Vujosevic doesn't know how to work with young guards, that is true, but Tripkovic is not creative guard, he is a poor shooter, who has his mental blocks, and if and when he sort things up, he could be absolutely brilliant.

But, even without Vujosevic, we have problems with guards because:

1)Until Ivkovic 2 years ago demanded zone to be forbidden in junior competition, we had a poor junior system which kills creative guards with 1 on 1 skills
    2) Beside Partizan, we don't have serious clubs who can support and work properly with young players, maybe Hemofarm could try, but that is it. FMP takes all the big talents, and than teach them a little, don't perform good transformation to senior basketball level, and sell them as half products to bigger clubs for great money where they completely fail, because they are not ready. It is a great luck for us Duda came, and save Teodosic, he would be one of the many lost talents, but now he is a best PG in Europe. Radnicki could do something good with young players, Red Star is a joke last decade(except Pesic time) and we see now how players like Bjelica are performing in WC after year lost in Red Star developing as a player zero, or even degrading.

dont be silly man. what about 3pt shot at the end of first half?
i cant remeber who score it, but that was travelling.

what about perovic's offensive foul in OT?

nobody said anything about veličković's poor performace. five open shots and nothing
i belive he's missing pionir hall, thats the only place where he can score some points. it's not problem with evil messina who nailed him to the bench.

well that's my friends vujoÅ”ević's school. guards simply have task to pass the ball to centers, and to do nothing else. tepić was a promising SG/SF when he came to partizan, but dule put him on PG position.
