I am thinking atm about how good we could be with Nowitzki and Kaman.
I think Germany is better without Nowitzki. They're more team oriented contrary with Nowitzki on the court. I don't mind if he played again though due to his tenure with team.
Kaman? I rather that joke stay home. He had chance to come play and decided to go do whatever. Let the younger centers like Pleiss and Ohlbrect have their time.
so what - may have been different too with Nowitzki and Kaman around, and certainly without these strange calls in favour of Serbia in overtime. It's not our problem if other players prefer to express themselves with fists and chairs.
Sorry let me rephrase. Teodosic and Krstic did all the preparation with the team and are regarded and indispensable players to the team. It was thought that they would be playing in the tournament, and Ivkovic had to change his plans two days before the tournament because of FIBA's decision to ban them for two days. Also, don't forget that what FIBA did with their decision to ban players from playing just two days before a tournament was unprecedented. Nowitzki and Kaman did not do the preparation with the team and Germany were fully equipped today. If the serbs wanted to argue they could mention half a dozen NBA players that did not wish to assist their NT this summer... so the argument that Nowitzky and Kaman were not there is irrelevant. The refereeing was strange in OT (but that goes for every single basketball you will ever watch as it is a universal phenomenon that referees tend to turn a blind eye to rough play in the final seconds of important games). Anyways, I applaud Germany for their win and Jagla for his 3-pointer. In order to win and do well in a tournament you do need luck as well (see Euro 2004 )
Great win for our team and a truely exciting match to watch. Germany played really good defense and Serbia needed to knock down the open shots, but couldn't do it. Nevertheless, the German squad should have won it in regulation already. But instead, they stopped playing with 3 minutes to go. You simply won't get decent shots if your point guard just hogs the ball 10 to 12 metres away from the basket until 5 seconds on the shot clock. We just don't have guards who can easily create their own shots in situations like these (like the US have e.g.)
Still, it feels really good. This team has had some good games in Poland and also against Argentina, but the always came up short. So it's kind of a breakthrough to finally win against a strong opponent.
PS: I like Markovic a lot. Great defense and court vision. Sort of a Hamann who doesn't lack creativity.
Without Teodosic and Krstic are offense is a zero...
Congratulations to Germany, they were a less worse team today...
Tepic, as in Partizan, again messed up last possession, but with guard players like Markovic and Paunic who don't know how to play one on one and close, he was the only one left.
Serbia offered Germany victory in regular time, also in OT1 but they blow it, being almost as useful as we were in attack, but those 2-3 lucky shots I can't believe my eyes.

Bro, there is no luck in basketball

Wasn't it that rather the refs blew it for us, not calling the obvious foul against Hamann while going to the basket? Anyway - great win, particularly for all the young players on the team. I'm really curious how they gonna do in the upcoming games, where expectations are surely a little higher than against Serbia.

I wouldn't be so happy.
This is like the football match between Germany and Serbia. Serbia beat Germany in the group stages but Germany made it to the semi-finals of the WC while Serbia didn't make it out of the group.
I expect something similar here.
Also, congrats on Greene nice player. Where did you guys import him from?
Anyhow, on a more serious note, Serbia looked disgusting out there. Uninterested. Poor Defending. Horrible Shot Selection. Last but certainly not least horrific Ball Handling. It's evident this team is missing Teodosic. Sure Krstic is missed as well but not as much as Teo. Tepic, not a point guard IMO. This guy lost the ball countless number of times. Doesn't know how to drive to the basket. Isn't a quality shooter, at least not thus far this tournament. Doesn't deserve to be in the starting lineup. I just have a bad feeling that this Serbia squad rely way too much on our 3 point shooting. We're going to have a bad shooting night one of these nights like Croatia did against USA and it's going to cost us big. Too many mistakes in overtime. IMO This Germany, full credit for their win, but certainly should have closed this game out in the 4th quarter. When you have a 6 point lead with 2 minutes to go and a Serbia team on an off night just goes to show that they lack quality to go far in this tournament. I will be the first to admit that Serbia were lucky to even go into overtime tonight let alone have a game-winning chance in 2OT. Disgusting game by US. Maybe wasted too much energy on the pitch yesterday. Also, hard to play with 10 men but no excuse to lose to this unimpressive German squad. Maybe they would have looked better with Dirk and Kaman I can't say but both teams looked like shit today. My only hope is Teodosic comes and carries this team on his back like he single-handidly took us to the European Championship final last year.
Nonetheless, props to Germany you did what you had to do tonight and that was win. Good luck in your remainder games and we might meet agian later this tournament for a rematch
Also, if you're going to complain about Dirk and Kaman then I guess Serbia could complain about Stojakovic, Jaric, Pavlovic, Radmanovic, Rakocevic, and Milicic not being called up/not playing. I'd much rather have a young Serbian squad at the average age of 23 than have a couple of old farts who couldn't give a rats ass about their national team like all those players I mentioned. I'm sure you feel the same way about your Dirk and Kaman
I expected game like this as soon I found out about suspensions. Congratulation to Germany they deserved this win . Our guard play is terrible. Thank god Teodosic will join tomorrow .
