See, this is the problem I have with many of our Euro/international friends. They scrutinize and disect ev-er-y little thing, from how USA shakes your hands before the game to "how dare they not know Athens is the capital of Greece!! Off with their heads!!!!!". I mean, are you guys serious or joking? How do you know that Russel was serious here btw? So what if he didn't know and is telling the truth? You guys have to understand that your international competitions are larger than we consider them to be. USA soccer (football for you) had boners when they defeated Spain in the Confederations Cup last year. Spain took it as a joke and didn't care. What do you expect from a powerhouse team in their own sport?

If you don't care about Fiba's competitions stop participate to them.

I think soon though, the USA will be sending better rosters to the WC, as long as the interest in it keeps growing like it currently is.

This time we could not help sending a weaker roster. What are we suppose to do, place a gun to their heads and force them to play? If you have notice the FIBA AT LAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is changing some rules with new ones that are the same in the NBA.

The girly game is here in Euro league. You block the ball and the lousy referees give most of times a foul.
They give foul in every single touch.
Now we will have more physical game. AT LAST !!!

It's another thing creating a team for the future.
Do you believe that now you are creating a NT for the future with all those young guys?
You know very well that if they will get a good contract in their NBA teams, then you will face the same problem. They will not want/ or be let, to play again in US NT.

People actually prefer the NCAA and the Euroleague to the NBA because it's pure basketball. Dunking and driving on clear lanes is not basketball. Specially with defense just staring at the player who drives. I'd rather watch the Harlem Globetrotters

You seriously want this change in Europe as well? We don't have athletic players so it won't be as "fun"

I'd rather stick with basketball. Euroleague can find other ways to market the sport, without changing the rules. Only the arrows-jump ball thing should have changed imo. The rest of the changes are crap and will make fans lose interest in the long run

This is the first year the WC has been broadcast in the USA. ESPN just got the rights to show FIBA here, they're starting to push it here.

This is not correct. I remember watching all of their games in 2006.

Here in Greece, and in the rest of the National teams, if one player don't want to play with his NT we conceder him as a traitor.

It is the ultimate honor for a player to play with his NT. So the same goes with Americans i think.

But most of times we see that American Players prefer not tο play with their NT.
The true is that most of times their NBA teams don't allow them because they are afraid of injuries.

I think you should keep the 2005 team play together for a few years as the rest NT do.
It is the best way to make a solid team.

I don't see this as an American thing, but an NBA thing. Many foreign NBAers also skip some of the tournaments too. The 82 game (plus playoffs) schedule is a lot, then ask to perform in these tournaments.

BTW IMHO, there is only one Dream Team, who was on it was what made it the "dream" the rest were just NBA players reppin' the U.S., except maybe the "Redeem Team" can keep their name.

This is not the first time the WC has been shown in the US, this might be the first time every game has been shown though. Overall I think US games have been shown since 1994 (and yet people are surprised Americans don't love the WC)

Still I find it funny people going, The NBA should change the number of games it's had for near 40 years and decrease profits, for a tournament most of their fans don't even know about.

It's never going to happen, even if I personally would love to see the season shortened to about 60 games. The owners will never accept a decrease of anything.

If FIBA really wants to make this the premier basketball event their either going to have to pull out of the Olympics, eliminate some regional tournaments, or focus solely on the Olympics.

Insisting on tournaments every year guarantees you wind up with years where the stars don't turn out in force, and given Americans almost unanimously support the Olympics more often than not the WC will get the short end of the stick.

Anway, I don't understand people here who understimate USA in terms how good they are, I mean in terms of talent. Yeah, they beat somebody by 15 points and all of the suden they are not favorites

It's very simple. They have by far most talent in team and they are contenders number one. Only at C they don't have individually best player(s), but along with Chandller Odom and Love with rest of squad can cover it.

Is USA sure to win title? NO! But it only depends on them, how well they will play as team, how well tacticley they will play, with how much desire and respect they will enter in game and how well they will individualy and as team will adapt to Fiba rules and Iternational tactics. Other can do their best and try to outwill them and outsmart them. But in the end USA simpley has much more talented team then others, even if it is their let's say "C" team, that evrything depends on USA, others simply can give their best and hope they will surprise them.

Without Rondo, I can't see USA make it to the final. Rajon Rondo was the only pure PG of these roster. Billups is a great player but likes too much to shoot the 3 and Derick Rose is a slasher, a player that would be SF with 3 more inches. Westbrook and Gordon are mid-level NBA players and Curry is, with Billups, their best shooter.
